Yeah that's what they are attempting to do. Which they use Twitter and Social media to get their taunts thru. But we can take them at their word with what they will do to those they kidnap or capture.

But people do have to give BO and his Team credit for discovering the plot by Khorasan that is in Syria along with ISIS, and al Nusra. If you read back in the thread some I put up the link in response to Pero.

Oh also I have up Where Menendez wanted the Intel brief to know what was happing covertly now in the present. Which shows that some knew there was a covert-op taking place.

It is quite disturbing how eager many in this thread are to put their countries sons and daughters into harms way to score cheap political points against Obama.

Maybe we do need to put boots on the ground, i don't know, i'd prefer and wait to see how the regional allies push back in conjunction with American air power.

Virtually nobody wants to go back into Iraq again, a very vocal minority are calling for this for politics, nothing more.

And especially when the enemy is goading you into committing troops, that's a sign you might want to step back.

And they were stupid to say that, just as it's stupid for conservatives to say that bush left behind a peaceful Iraq, he didn't, nobody did and nobody will until a whole lotta bodies have been piled on.

The question is how many American, Canadian, British and Australian bodies do we really want as part of that pile, since they won't do any good.

I appreciate your comments and your view is not wrong - the majority of Americans and for that matter in other western countries as well do not want to see this escalate into another massive ground war in the region. That said, the politics is on both sides - it's clear, at least to me, that Obama's public pronouncements, repeatedly, about "no combat boots on the ground" are clearly to assuage the fears expressed above. He can't possibly be doing it for other than political reasons. There is no tactical advantage, from a strategic and military point of view, in announcing to the world what you will not do.

I think a lot of conservatives strongly support defense and military issues and institutions - not to say liberals don't, but conservatives more readily relate in that regard. As such, in my view, they are rightly concerned with pronouncements from the President that only serve political ends.

    Screw Iraq.
And screw the consequences? SOFA agreements are just paperwork and there are over 80 of them ongoing today. It was a weak excuse for Obama in order to place the blame elsewhere when he left Iraq exposed.

Likely, yes, but what was the last war we got into militarily? Probably WW II.

It only takes the mention of Obama to set off patho-conservatives and their rants about Benghazi. You posted a whole bloody page of rightwing talking points. Conservatives and their obsessions.
