Security breached: Intruder gets into White House

If I didn't know better, I'd say you're happy the breech occurred but disappointed the guy didn't reach his target.

Of course you would say that!

It's because Liberals can't help but make it personal! You people amaze me! It's absolutely impossible for you all to disagree with someone, about the facts. You have to attack your opponent's character!

Ummm... I don't see apdst doing that.

What is it with some of the liberals in this thread. Most of the conservatives are just discussing how bad it is that there was such a breech, not attacking Obama.

:lamo Questionable character, maybe. But you make it so easy to bring your character into question with all of your anti-Obama rhetoric.

All I'm saying that although some may find the breech unacceptable, others may secretly be disappointed the target wasn't acquired.

And then, you double down on your insults! That's sad, man! Really sad!

Maybe, but I don't see anyone saying it or even implying it.

Secret Service boosts security outside White House.....

The head of the Secret Service has stepped-up security outside the White House after a man who jumped the fence made it into the presidential residence before being apprehended, the Secret Service said Saturday, as President Barack Obama insisted he still has confidence in the beleaguered agency.

Director Julia Pierson ordered enhanced officer patrols and surveillance along the North Fence of the compound just after the incident on Friday evening, which triggered a rare evacuation of the White House as well as renewed scrutiny about the agency's ability to protect the president and his family. The Secret Service said Pierson had also ordered a comprehensive review of the incident.....snip~

Why the Secret Service didn’t shoot the White House fence-jumper.....

The small army of Secret Service agents guarding the White House carry a wide range of weapons and get training on how to repel sophisticated armed assaults – so why did no one shoot the intruder who jumped the fence on Friday and got all the way to the mansion’s doors?

Officials inside the storied agency describe astonishment and embarrassment that no one tackled the suspect — identified as Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, of Copperas Cove, Texas — before he reached the grand columned entrance that looks out at Pennsylvania avenue. But they also defend the decision to hold their fire. “This wasn’t a military-style assault. He had no bag, no backpack, no visible weapons. And from the early reports from the officers he seemed to be mentally disturbed,” one insider told Yahoo News. “I know how to stop fence-jumpers,” the insider said. “We close Pennsylvania Avenue to pedestrians completely and we put barbed wire on top of the fence.” “But that’s not reasonable,” the source added. “We want Americans to be able to come up to that fence line and take pictures and have fun and enjoy it.”.....snip~

Why the Secret Service didn

What a pathetic excuse.

No visible weapons? Guess what genius: Suicide bombers usually have no visible weapons either...because it's underneath their clothing!

When something like this happens, the job is simple: Shoot first & ask questions later.
Dumb ****s! Heads need to roll for this.

You made it the same thing. Just because there's no way to seal our southern border 100% doesn't mean it's a bad idea to do so. Removing all secirity from the border is as senseless as removing security grom the WH.

And where did I say to remove "all secirity" [sic] from the border? I just said a complete fence across the whole border would be senseless.

What are you Apdst's mommy?

It has been a long time since we have seen the heroics of the two secret servicemen who covered Jackie Kennedy and Vice President Johnson during the Kennedy assassination and the secret serviceman who jumped in front of Reagan and took a bullet in 1981.

Their reputation has been tarnished in the last few years.

When I see someone say something stupid, I often choose to correct it. You said something stupid and you have now been corrected.

It wouldn't be just a fence, any more than it's just a fence around the White House. We just don't have the balls to do it right at the border.

Heya Crosscheck. :2wave: Yeah considering this was actually the second intrusion in less than 24 hrs. Now they are saying this guy did have a knife.

I wonder how much of this is true? We only know what they're reporting, but this seems extraordinarily sloppy and out of character for the Secret Service! just sayin'...........

Myabe to him they are not the same thing.

I guess for him the issue is not the crossing, but why they are crossing.

Crossing to take jobs in the US - Acceptable

Crossing to hurt the President - not acceptable.

The crossing the barrier is the issue, not the why of it.

How does it call somebody's character into question if they are not an Obama supporter?

Do you know how that sounds to sane people? If you don't support Obama, you are a horrible person.

You can't really believe that.

With what has been going on lately, maybe a different expression is in order.

Security breached: Intruder gets into White House

Fence jumpers are nothing new - what is new is that this guy actually got INTO the White House. Incredible since the SS are on duty 24/7/365 and have been for decades to prevent just such an occurrance from happening. Just think - this guy could have had a dirty bomb or C4 strapped to him or a biological weapon and got INTO the White House because of failed Secret Service. I saw on CNN that there is now a full sweep of the grounds to make sure this guy didn't drop something - like a weapon or biologic. This is a WTF moment.

It's kind of a yawn actually.

He wasn't shot, no one injured, and some press had to evacuate.

Call it a test of security and go back to bed...but then I live in a country where the Prime Minister's wife had to fend off a burglar while the RCMP smoked dope or something. "Security, we don't need no stinking security.."
