Iranian leader rips ISIS, questions U.S. willingness to 'sacrifice' in terror fight

Iranian President: ISIS killings are shameful - CNN.com

"They want to kill humanity and, from the viewpoint of the Islamic tenets and culture, killing an innocent person equals the killing of (all) humanity," Rouhani said of ISIS militants, according to the translation on NBC's website. " ... The killing and beheading of innocent people, in fact, is a matter of shame on them and a matter of concern and sorry for all ... mankind."The only relevant thing about the victims is that they were innocent, not their nationalities or religions, according to Rouhani
The comments regarding the USofA's sacrifices are laughable considering what the US has been engaged in for the last 13 years, but it's also to be expected considering the source.

I mean, what exactly has Iran been doing to fight ISIS?????

Regardless, I think it's a tiny bit refreshing to see anti-ISIS comments coming from Iran.

Can an enemy of our enemy be our friend on some level?

Call me skeptical, but I don't generally place any trust in what any of the ME leaders have to say. Keep a watchful eye, and don't make assumptions about their honesty or their intentions.

    Difficult to say.

I think whether such a speech can harm ISIS moral depends on whether they take the Iranian speech as truthful or not. If ISIS believes he is just making lip service then this is to no avail.

    Agree completely.

One thing to remember though, to date, ISIS has slaughtered far far more Muslims than westerners.

Yes, I realize that, but the entire region is fairly tribal in nature, and Muslims killing each other in large numbers is nothing unusual. If it wasn't ISIS, there'd likely be someone else to be outraged about. If he truly is concerned, then he needs to gather his resources and try to take action. That would speak much louder than rhetoric.

    All true.

At least this time some words are coming. Not just silence.

Actions will speak louder than words.

I'd like to hear/read about an Iranian air strike on an ISIS stronghold, or Iranian troops in intimate combat against ISIS.
    That would be awesome.

Iran would make the case that it has been helping Syria's government fight groups such as ISIS, as well as ISIS' allies including the Nusra Front and Free Syrian Army (Frustration drives Arsal).

On the matter of U.S. efforts, Iran is not in a strong position to criticize the U.S., as the U.S. has been carrying out airstrikes against the ISIS terrorist organization.

Re: Iranian leader rips ISIS, questions U.S. willingness to 'sacrifice' in terror fig

    On fighting Isis

Iran has been working with Syria, Hezbollah on fighting ISIS in Syria, sending military aid to Syria and top level advisors on the ground. As for actual Iranian troops in Syria fighting none that I am aware of

    In Iraq,

On a few occasions Iran has sent a few hundred soldiers to near by towns that were fighting ISIS, it is also working with Shia militias and the Iraqi military on fighting ISIS.

Iran does consider ISIS to be a great threat and has done as much as it can do short of sending an army into Syria or Iraq to fight them head on.

Is that documented somewhere? Does Al Jazeera post that news?
