States with higher minimum wage gain more jobs

You completely missed the most likely response. Businesses react to the higher minimum wage, as an increase in the cost of goods sold, and increase their prices accordingly.

Such price increases would be so small as to be irrelevant.

More ammo to those who favor raising the wage. They were told if they raise the wage jobs would be loss, in seems that the opposite is happening. Those states who raised the wage are currently creating more jobs.

That is a crock....

You do realize when overhead goes up companies tend to cut back????

I don't even know how you can possibly believe higher minimum wage means more jobs...... All higher minimum wage equals is one of two things a) product prices will go up OR b) there will be mass layoffs and many businesses will close their doors (which is what I suspect some desire)...

The best part is that if minimum wage was 15 bucks an hour - noting would change considering inflated product costs. So say you're paying 1.25 for a bar of soap now - if you get minimum wage you will be paying 2.50 - so how exactly does that help those making minimum wage considering consumer prices will just adjust???

Do you really think there will be no repercussions to nearly doubling the minimum wage?

The only intelligent solution to "poverty" or minimum wage is to tie minimum wage to regional standard of living.

Never said raising the wage was the cause of the job growth. Stating that it did not cause job losses..

Yeah well it's going to.

Do you really think businesses are don't worry about their own salvation?

That is one of the problems with this "15/hr" crowed - they have absolutely ZERO concept of how a business works.

You do realize that business owners are in business to pay their own bills too just like their employees? No instead their employees think they OWN the business and the owner is THEIR employee..

Yeah, go ahead and pass that 15/hr nonsense and see how many businesses become automated, shut down or just lay people off...

IMO, the economy has dramatically shrunk and is still in shambles and YOU want more????

Businesses are barely surviving as it is and you just want to tank them more, because you're under some illusion that every business owner is a highly successful greedy millionaire - when in reality most business owners owe more in debt than you can make in your entire life.

Whens that going to happen?

It's not my fault you don't understand capitalism or even the idea that a lot of these "chains" are owned by independent owners. Your ignorance of business is not my fault and you ask a lot of questions a high school kid would ask.

My point - if you can understand is that businesses will acct accordingly to your 15/hr nonsense and the end result will be millions loosing their jobs... Just so the FEW of you that can actually keep your job and your greedy demands (if you succeed)...... Now that is greed and - IMO, masochism.

Do you get it now?

THe business doesn't work for you - you work for the business!

Your the one screaming its going to be $15 hr here.
Also why didnt it happen now? Many of these states raised their wages a while ago. When is it going to happen?

hmm.. it still seems a little soon to call out results.
in my armchair economists opinion, I cant imagine it being measurable/comparable for at least 5+ years.

itll be interesting to see how this affects jobs that were already paying more than minimum.
as with my employer, the only employees that would've been compensated for an increased minimum wage, would've been anyone who's wages were surpassed. kinda ****ty for the rest, but when there's no requirement for them to adjust all wages then I certainly cant fault them..

Of course some did, some had no choice due to regional standard of living ( but not many)...

The only fair and logical wage is a regional standard of living wage - potentially even age based.

Look you cant pay someone 15 dollars an hour where rent is 300 a month and you can't pay someone 9 bucks an hour where rent is 1200 a month... Do you not understand that?

As someone with a background in accounting - there must be a balance - and there is no balance there. No matter how much you hate the "rich" which is a highly subjective idea.

Sorry to tell you but on the north shore of Chicago a million dollar a year salary is nothing... In Chicago It may by you a nice apartment in a nice neighborhood.

This is why I talk of regional standard of living.

7-8 bucks an hour in Green Bay is "rich" but in Chicago it's nothing - not even enough to buy/rent an apartment in the ghetto.

Our government has ZERO concept on the discrepancies between region to region... They don't see the difference between Chicago, Green Bay, Omaha, St Louis, Noam, Bangor etc wherever it may be...

This is something you do not understand.
