Funny I guess my home state missed that memo as the last time I subbed there was a locker room and the kids hit the shower.

You mean all those kids are going back to class all sweaty and stinky or that atheletes have to wait until they go home to take a shower? Good grief.

There is no laws on the books that I can recall that banned schools from requiring students to shower. The reason schools stopped doing it was because they were losing lawsuits over the issue and it wasn't worth keeping the policy in place. If a school is requiring kids to shower today they are running the risk of getting sued and it is pretty much guaranteed they will lose the lawsuit if that happens.

I don't recall getting that sweaty in PE. As for sports, yeah, I suppose. Does it matter? Btw, I didn't say kids couldn't shower. If a kid wants to shower the shower is still there. They will most likely be the only one in it, but yeah, it's there if they want to use it.

Gotta love what attorneys have done to this country. And to think many of them end up as judges and politicians.

Businesses will try to avoid layoffs if they can but if the government keeps pushing them and forces them to adopt higher wages then automation will be the inevitable consequence in the fast food industry.
Unless you've seen these restaurants make the claim it's pure speculation as to why they are doing this.

What other reason could they have to introduce automation other than to streamline operations and cut cost?

Of course it isn't about the worker, it never has been. It's about a political agenda.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

They will streamline and cut costs regardless of where minimum wage is. So tying the move to potential minimum wage hikes in the future is not just guess work... it's pure fabrication in light of the fact that businesses will do this regardless.

I don't expect it would be noticeably faster. The technology is already being produced. The systems already exist. I don't know if you've looked at the consoles the people taking orders use, but it's basically already set up that way. At this point it's more about whether or not the customers respond positively.

I'd be shocked if $15 wages prompted fast food to implement such systems even a year faster. You need to keep in mind the fact that low level workers aren't really a huge part of mcdonalds operating costs.

I'm not so sure about that. It costs McDonalds well in excess of $70,000 (@ $8/hr) to staff each 24 hour position for a year. Given a 24 hour store, one cash register and one grill/kitchen station cost nearly $140,000 in just wages MINIMUM.. then add in SS, Medicare, FICA, payroll tax, potential overtime, sick time, possible paid time off vacation days, benefits (albeit crappy ones), liability insurance... the list goes on.

How much does a tablet cost?
