ugg always with the ranting nonsense.

a question was asked what does wording a burger on a tablet have to do with minimum wage.
the fact it a lot. these workers want 15 an hour minimum wage.

ok i will put in an automated ordering system that i don't have to pay minimum wage 2. i can setup 3 or 4 of these stations.
and that gets rid of 3 or 4 cashiers.

mcdonalds problem is their food quality. it stinks and is expensive.
their prices are right up there with real quality burger joints and that is what is killing them.

If you go cheap then your machines will always be down and you will still be paying someone to take orders and no matter how easy the interface is there will be a large portion of the customers who won't be able to figure it out.
So you have a tech on hand....machines dont require benefits, parking, office space, lockers, break rooms, time cards, etc.

Whopper's can be very tasty...but they are not very good for you...especially if you eat them often.

it is something with how they process their patties at creation. the best burgers have a 80/20 or 90/10 meat to fat ratio. these produce a good tasting burger that is moist and juicy.

i think mcdonalds use a lot of filler kinda like when you order crab cakes you really don't get a lot of crab it is mostly fillers.

this would give their burger a hard more tasteless patty. then add that to the fact that they are frozen for who knows how long before being shipped to the different stores.
most places get 2 deliveries a week depending.

So instead of paying 2 cashiers $7.25 you pay 1 tech $15 plus the cost of the machines, clearly a smart business decision

Won't sell any more crapburgers. They won't cut the price, will they, and crap is crap, no matter how fast it lands in your lap.

I agree. That's my point. And they deserve to die.

Apparently you arent aware of how much benefitrs, HR people, and all the other things I mentioned cost.

And even at the cafeterias I mentioned or the supermarkets with 4-6 self-checkouts, they *may* have one dedicated person to over see it or the may use a manager, etc, with the right training.

We have 6 self checkouts at my store, they are a pain. Lots of customers hate them, half are to dumb to use them, the often malfunction and pulling the money for the reset takes a long time and eats up the payroll of the 2 managers required to do it. To top it off the sales running through all 6 self checkouts rarely beats a single register

Yet I've read that every chain that has bought them them has found them to be a good investment.

Yup, exactly. Where I am a good burger is hard to find so I will sometimes just go to a BK outlet to satisfy my urges- a whopper with onion rings on the side does wonders to homesickness.
