Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders says he may run for president as a Democrat

My God... will America's Non-Sheeple actually be given a choice next election? I voted Gravel and Paul in the priors, and had no hope of a choice in 2016, until I heard this...

Really? I just found out. I guess I need to tune into mainstream media more often.

Or just look at the threads that have already been posted...

I am curious though, how could you vote for Paul, someone who is not a huge fan of government, to Sanders, who hasn't seen a government program he didn't love?

Many seem to think, as we see (saw?) with Obama, that presidential campaign promises will somehow become reality in federal policy. Obama ran opposing Bush federal income tax rate policy and Bush's "unpatriotic" levels of federal deficit spending but governed (and won re-election) by keeping 98.6% of Bush federal income tax rate policy and increasing the level of federal deficit spending. Most (all but about $60 billion annually) of the federal income tax revenue increases under Obama came from a slow economic recovery and, even with 2014 federal income tax revenue at a record high level, Obama still has the annual federal deficit higher than any year under Bush. No he can't.

(Ron) Paul and Sanders have similar positions on war, civil liberties, government surveillance, anti-corporatism, drug prohibition, etc. It's likely that kramercat places more of an emphasis on social/civil issues (where Paul and Sanders pretty much agree on) rather than economic issues(which is where the big differences appear). That would explain why he went from supporting a free market capitalist to supporting a democratic socialist.

Yet Rand Paul has now tacked to the right of right on ISIL from his glass house.
He'll be torn to shreds by his fellow GOPs long before he runs for Senator again and loses in 2016 .

That makes sense, except for the anti-corporatism bit that I think you made up because you may hate anyone with more money than you. I kid, but seriously, what is that support to be? You're against corporations?

He said Ron Paul, and I doubt it in any event. Rand Paul is just enough of a conservative that they'll let him slide. That and he's been very supporting of Mitch so I think he's with them at this point.
