    Vikings: Adrian Peterson to return

The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday that running back Adrian Peterson will return to practices and meetings this week and is expected to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints...

"At this time, however, we believe this is a matter of due process and we should allow the legal system to proceed so we can come to the most effective conclusions and then determine the appropriate course of action. This is a difficult path to navigate, and our focus is on doing the right thing. Currently we believe we are at a juncture where the most appropriate next step is to allow the judicial process to move forward. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and support Adrian's fulfillment of his legal responsibilities throughout this process."

I think the team is trying to force the NFL's hand, so that the team doesn't have to eat the cost of deactivation.

Or they knee jerked when they should of given the courts time to figure things out. Keep in mind the whole Ray Rice thing from last week and how it was blown massively out of proportion, so the Vikings of course wanted to play it safe. I think the 49ers taking the route they did with there guy, made it a lot easier for them to take this approach.

Keep apologizing for domestic violence and child abuse, real classy.

I'm on Janay Rice's side of this, who's side are you on again? And I'm going to just assume you never had parents or are under the age of twenty, because otherwise, you would of had a whipping before.

That is a lame defense. The abused spouse almost invariably defends their abuser. "Taking her side" is therefor not the moral high ground.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he stops voting for the Free Fish party.

Typical domestic violence apology. I'm sorry to hear it. Good luck healing.

The hip-hop culture celebrates this stuff.

It's almost more common than uncommon in that world.

Sure why not, give him a pat on the butt and let him play until further notice.
It's not like he is a role model or anything.

You're right, we should never listen to what a woman has to say as her opinion doesn't matter in this case. But unlike many domestic abuses that happened in this country, celebrity domestic abuse is very much a different bag of apples. The reason I say this is because you have any number of sources that can come out on your behalf; the fact that it is so public means there's always going to be a hospital worker, or a friend, or even someone just looking for a quick dollar, who is willing to run to the media on her behalf. In this case , there hasn't been a friend that has come out on her behalf saying that this is a trend of abuse. In addition, there is also no history of domestic abuse or even bad behavior as it concerns Ray Rice. Everyone wants to condemn a man and destroy his career over what, by all accounts, was a mistake done while intoxicate, after being hit first, and one that he is deeply sorry for. I'm not saying it exonerates him completely, I think that a suspension of two games was appropriate to send the message that the NFL doesn't condone such actions.

Unless either of you, or anyone for that matter, actually personally knows either Ray or Janay Rice, you cannot be 100% certain that Janay Rice doesn't mean it when she talks about the love they share. And discounting her opinion solely based on some archaic bias that a woman needs a man's protection and can't think for herself, is just as bad as smacking around a woman in my book.

Not sure how that would even play out. I can imagine the protests and signs. Plus...honestly I think dood would benefit stepping away from the game a few months at least. He is just coming off the death of one son and now stands accused of whipping a child on his legs, stomach, groin, and butt. Dood is at the very least having a bad year.
