Girl, 11, told by school not to wear 9/11 T-shirt

The left and political correcctness going a muck. When will it end???

Girl, 11, told by school not to wear 9/11 T-shirt | Fox News

Published September 14, 2014

The stepdaughter of a U.S. veteran was told last week that she was not allowed to wear to school a T-shirt to honor the men and women who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

And who concocted this travesty? a progressive of course - one sympathetic to the destruction the the United States of America due to racial or religious sympathy.

So a dude can mimic getting head from Jesus and that is First Amendment but a little girl cant pay tribute to 9/11?

What a country these "people" want us to be...

2 more years and when I see this **** I'm suing and making sure teachers and administration is fired....

They'll be working at ****ing McDonalds when I get done with them.

School uniforms - They're a liberal plot to destroy America.

So you would rather teach a student to not obey the rules and disrespect authority, huh? Sorry Navy, that's awfully left-wing of you.

Its a ridiculous rule and if it was a Muslim tee shirt there wiuld not have been a peep from that left wing admin.

IDK.... Certainly collectivist nonsense.

Not exactly like the gangbangers that sport colors go to school.

So what's the point?

If they have a dress code? I totally side with the school.
They do, but their statement still contains irony.
District spokesman Trent Allen said students are only allowed to wear clothing other than their uniform on free dress days, and Sept. 11 isn’t one of those days.

The travesty is the result of the school requiring uniforms, ergo, school uniforms must be a progressive idea to destroy America.

Either that, or the whole story is a molehill masquerading as a mountain.

I said it was a form of conformity - an idea I don't support.

And you're a libertarian? and support such nonsense? conformity?

Nope.

It's generally the authoritarian right wing that supports such things.

I'm not the one defending the school via authoritarian action - you are - furthermore you're defending 1984is attire - figure it out before you even attempt to call yourself a libertarian....... you're a communist not an individualist.

My point was that the school required uniforms, and that not allowing a girl to wear a 9/11 T shirt was not some liberal plot to excuse the perpetrators of 9/11, as was implied in the OP.

Moreover, there is a big difference between rules that apply to children at school and rules that apply to the society at large. If the school says you wear a uniform, then you wear a uniform if you're a minor. If the parents say you wear a uniform at school, then you do. What you're implying is requiring everyone to wear a uniform.

Personal choice does not happen until after the individual reaches adulthood.

You're not a libertarian...

Maybe a loose liberal but not a libertarian.

Even libertarians believe in discipline for minors. Trust me on that.

Once you're over 18 and making your own money, then the individual responsibility/individual choice thing kicks in.

Yep. OP's Fox link says that the only time students don't have to wear uniforms is on "free dress days," and 9-11 wasn't one of them. Besides, the kids are all free to wear whatever they want after they return home from school.

Its a ridiculous rule and if it was a Muslim tee shirt there wiuld not have been a peep from that left wing admin.

If it was a Muslim t-shirt, the same rule applied. The school has a dress code that is quite appropriate and applies to all students.

Don't act like a liberal, now, whining about needing self-expression and all that nonsense.

It isn't plausible that they were glad to do it? So, you think it is impossible? Now, that's not even plausible, because it is totally possible, and not just a smidgen.

Explain how it would be relevant to what happened either way.

How many times have I quote-posted towards you, NP? And not a peep. You've shown complete dishonesty in this thread. You have shown evidence for NONE of the accusations that you have made, have been shown to be completely wrong about why the shirt was not allowed, and have continued to REFUSE to show any integrity in admitting you were wrong. The fact that you have no responded to one of my posts is telling that you KNOW you screwed up but refuse to admit it... simply because you like to attack liberals and will do so even when you are dead wrong, which you usually are.

This post has no logic attached to it and only continues to demonstrate the dishonesty of extreme conservatives... and make no mistake... you are no libertarian, you are an extreme conservative.

Prove me wrong.

As far as I can see it you defend radical Islam in every shape and format,

This is an excellent example of how you fail. You fail because you speak in absolutes, just like most extreme conservatives do (and extreme liberals, too). What this means is that if I find ONE example of me NOT defending radical Islam, I win.

I don't think it's silly to paint Hamas as terrorists.

I win and you lose... as usual. You've been proven wrong... as usual. You might want to educate yourself on your opponent's positions before you speak in absolutes and make yourself look as bad as you just did.

No you fail for depriving the kid of his First Amendment rights...... You're the tyrant. Remember that.

Ah. So you don't understand the First Amendment and the Constitution. And libertarians are supposed to be so knowledgeable about that. Proves you aren't a libertarian. The school is a private school and having a dress code does not violate anyone's First Amendment rights. Anyone with a basic understanding of civics would know that.

The tyrant here is you, trying to force a private business to following your personal morality. Again, something a libertarian would NEVER do.

No you fail for depriving the kid of his First Amendment rights...... You're the tyrant. Remember that.

No. A school's having a dress code is not depriving a kid of her First Amendment rights. And the parents signed off on compliance with school rules when they enrolled that kid. I suppose a few schools are lax in their rules, but the one I attended wasn't and isn't. You don't get to wear a t-shirt, period. And on special occasions, you have to wear a dressier uniform too and earn mega-demerits if you don't. I spent every Saturday of my junior year raking pine needles.

So boo-hoo to this student and the misplaced outrage about the 9-11 t-shirt.

Children do not have first amendment rights.

Are you over 18? Really? and on your own, paying your own bills?
