Liberal Vermont Senator Sanders may seek U.S. presidency in 2016

IMHO, This is just more of the curtain being pulled back on liberal progressivism. Look at the progs in here that support, and even yearn for a truly "socialist" lurch in this country.

Kind of reminds me of the early 20th century, where you had Wilson's "goon squads" out there beating up dissenters, and total reprobate's like Sanger, and Shaw calling for people to "justify their existence" to a board...Truly American, right? :(

Not to be outdone by Conservative extremists, Liberals may have an extremist of their own running in 2016. To that I say "Run Bernie Run". This would definitely stop Hillary Clinton from gaining the White House. Her Neoliberal positions are every bit as dangerous as the Neocons were, and to be honest, I would rather see a Republican who is not a Neocon in office over Hillary.

Discussion?

Article is here.

I find it hard to believe that a progressive actually has a shot at the presidency.... The only hope the democrats have is Billary and she will be a long shot at best, just as long as republicans can find a way to nominate a libertarian leaning candidate.

IF these clowns even think of nominating a progressive or RINO then they meet the criteria for insanity...... Those philosophies have been tried and failed from both sides. It's time for something new....

And libertarians really need to stop running and associating themselves with Republicans - that within itself is a good way to destroy your chances....

:lamo :2wave:

Had to work on the stand-by generator today, and I twisted my flippin' bad knee (well, they're both bad, but the worst one is the one I twisted). I forget sometimes and try to act like I'm still 20 without all these busted parts. Took a 800mg Ibuprofen and an Oxycodone... not getting much sleep right now, so I turned this 'puter back on thought I'd come bother you folks a while.

At work?! Or you have a stand by at home? You're always stressing those knees, sorry dude, hope it's not too bad.

We should find out in a few months what America is actually looking for.

Sorry...Sanders is simply a myopic liberal hack. He doesnt want to stop excessive campaign contributions and involvement, he wants to stop republican donors. He isnt opposed to bankers and brokers and special interest groups...he is just opposed to the ones that support GOP causes. He is no different than all the rich democrats living in their mansions separated from the masses and bemoaning all the 'little people' and how unfair the world is for them.

That being said...I TRULY hope he does run. It should make for an interesting primary to see which one of their own the democrats start eating because they represent a threat to the party choice. I can see a rerun of 1992. Run Jesse Run!!!

Yes well, you don't think that GOPer's eat their own during a primary?

And there's this.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said today he will introduce legislation to break up banks that have grown so big that the Justice Department has not pursued prosecutions for fear an indictment would harm the financial system.

The 10 largest banks in the United States are bigger now than before a taxpayer bailout following the 2008 financial crisis. At the time Congress, over Sanders' objection, approved a $700 billion bank rescue because of concerns by some that the financial institutions were too big to fail. Another $16 trillion from the Federal Reserve propped up financial institutions.

Of course they do. Its always a freak show. As a registered libertarian and one who doesnt vote major party, dont I deserve a little bit of entertainment along the way? Hell...maybe we can get Dennis Kucenich to enter the race too.

Wonderful. Now...make sure you post all of Bernies comments specifically targeting the rich DEMOCRATS and those democrats that receive that PAC money or the rich democrats that are working every bit as hard as the Koch brothers.

Yes, I suppose you do deserve a little entertainment. Do you have some Bernie quotes where he targets republicans and gives dem's a pass?

Moderate Republican? No, she's voting like a goddamn neocon. Hillary needs to switch parties.

How about just disappear into retirement!

Why do those on the left think that idiots like Hillary and Barack are like Republicans if they aren't voting like socialists? Maybe it's because there are so many RINO's, afraid of their own shadows, that vote like Democrats?

Try EVERY quote he ever makes on 'the problem'. Oh...he is QUICK to point out the other guys. But he doesnt point out the 'in' crowd.

Start with his own website.

What Do the Koch Brothers Want? - Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont

notice there isnt a link to "George Soros"? Or any other wealthy democrat contributors? PACs?

If she is the dem nominee come August 2016, you will be singing her praises and leading the parade to the polls.

Is Bernie Sanders really a socialist?
When has he advocated the government taking over the means of production?

Wait, how is he different then any other partisan politician? Can you find me a GOPer pointing out the inconsistencies and failings of fellow republicans? Also, I provided you a link to Sanders' bill that would reign in banks, and nothing about it suggests it would just be banks owned or staffed by republicans only.

He isnt and THAT was the point. He is no different than all the other mindless partisan hacks. He is blind to all the **** he sits in and with and can only see 'the other guys'.

I thought he was an independent.

Maybe it's because both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are Bush 2.0 and 3.0? Perpetual war, blatant disregard for civil liberties, bailing out/subsidizing/protecting big business, continuation of the War on Drugs, etc. Clinton and Obama are not "leftists" in any sense of the term. Neither is the rest of the modern Democratic Party.

I'm not a Democrat, I'm a registered Libertarian dip****. Quit being a hack.

He's a democratic socialist which is slightly different from conventional socialism.

Just read his ideas on the economy and economic growth.

He's a moron, and NO, we don't need anyone like him any where close to the White House again.

Liberal? He's a democratic socialist.

No, Sanders wouldn't stand a chance in hell. Unlike Perot or Ralph Nader, the guy would pull far less support.
I'm not so sure anymore. Obama's 2008 campaign was riddled with socialist dog whistles, and people seemed to eat it up.

"Conventional" socialism, i.e., real socialism, means government ownership of the means of production A "Social Democrat" is another animal. Just what is a "democratic socialist"?

That's what's next to his name (I) but he votes with the Dems something like 98% of the time, so he isn't technically independent by my definition.

Does voting with the Democrats make him a "mindless partisan hack"? If he were really so partisan, wouldn't he want a D after his name?
