ISIS appears to execute British aid worker David Haines

My point was don't go snooping around the M.E. alone...or you might lose your head.
OK.

And I happen to think the U.S. should mind it's own business and stay away from the M.E..
And how does that prevent, stop or deter terrorists from coming to the US and killing us here?

I find it amusing how some think that ignoring or retreating away from these people will somehow calm them and conversely, engaging them creates more terrorists.

This is not an easy solution. Having seen them kill two American journalists do we attack and possibly lose 3,000 American soldiers? Or do we come home and for once have real borders and real customs and immigration process at US airports?

If we do go over to fight them militarily unless we kill every member and every member's relative we will still be vulnerable to a low tech terrorist attack in the US. The 9-11 attack shows with only a few terrorists and razor cutters you can severely hurt one of the most powerful nations in the world.

There is no correct answer but why is every problem in the world suddenly our problem.

And yet ISIS have also murdered thousands of middle eastern civilians and continue to do so DA60.

David Haines knew the risks involved when he went there. He had a passion for humanitarian work and he chose to undertake that work to try and assist the ordinary civilians there. Unfortunately that cost him his life. That's also a risk he was clearly prepared to take.

The guy was stupid.

The guy had a four year old daughter...she should have been his first priority, not running around the Middle East in a dangerous fashion playing Robin Hood.
He should have stayed home, helped raise his daughter and volunteered for local charities.

At some point, you should realize a region is dead and leave it to die.

If you go to aid suffering people there while knowing these guys are out and about you receive none of my sympathies.

What he did was righteous, wonderful, but this was expected. Only a foolish Westerner outside of a military would be in that region of the ME.

hehehehehe nukes.

Humanitarian work is a valuable undertaking that few are actually willing to do. To call the man stupid, especially after being killed in such a brutal fashion, is both callous and ignorant.

Not sure if serious.

He wouldn't want any of your "sympathies". He didn't go there for YOU he went there to assist in a humanitarian role to help those less fortunate than himself. Who the hell are you to call him stupid or foolish for getting off his arse and actively living what he believed in.

While many sit on their asses behind their keyboards, faking outrage at the injustices carried out against the people in the ME at the hands of ISIS and other extemists groups, he actually got off his ass and tried to make a difference by helping those in need. At least he died living his life doing what he was passionate about and believed in.

I like how people here are blaming the air strikes on the beheading when the guy beheaded was their to provide humanitarian aid.

ISIS and those like them want us dead for our free societies which are anathema to their vision of an Islamic state. They hate us for our compelling alternative to brutal theocratic hegemony. They fear the humanitarian Christian more than they fear bombs.

Its retaliation pure and simple- since they dont have drones or smart bombs they use terrorism. If they had better weapons you can bet they'd use them too.
AH..yes. THATS all this is about. Its 'retaliation'. Their own fault, really. Brought it on themselves they did.

And the 200+ children that were round up and beheaded, raped, had their heads crushed with stones in front of each other, were hung with ravor wire from buildings...they...well...that was their fault too. Shouldnt have been Christians. SHould have known better.

Do you believe the same thing about firemen rushing in to burning buildings attempting to save lives?

There's a difference, one has a chance of survival, the other has absolutely none. One will actually make a difference if killed, one will never.

Yep - how dare anyone try to stop a group of savages on an ethnic/religious cleansing mission?

And the moral is...

...if you are non-Middle Eastern, stay the 'f' away from the Middle East...no matter how innocent your intentions.

Allu ackbar?

He got off his ass and ended up once again on his ass.

He died whilst engaged in something he was passionate about, something that was clearly close to his heart.

Every man dies. Not every man really lives..

I guess, in the end my original comment said this was expected. Not that I wanted him to die or anything. It's all in vain, the ME was a ****hole, is a ****hole, and will always be a ****hole so long as the plague of humanity called Islam still exists.

I agree with this. They don't have the ability to retaliate in any significant way, so out of desperation they are hitting us where they feel they can possibly affect us... our 'softness' for the individual. This also tells me that air strikes are actually effective, and that we should keep them up.
You are wrong. This is about trying to shock people...to create so much horror that they will insist their governments withdraw completely. It is the CORE and FOUNDATION of TERRORism. they EXPECT people to not have the stomach for the fight. The perptrators arent shocked. They arent horrified. To them, this is a great and glorious cause.

Do you have access to Google? If so...select 'Images' and look up "ISIS beheading children" if you want to see your enemy. Look at what they find noble and glorious. It will help you to understand just how sanitary and clean and strictly for public relations these beheadings of journalists and aid workers have been. They are COUNTING on idiots to blame this act on the presidents and premiers and prim ministers. They are counting on shock and horror and media cries for withdrawal. They are counting on people claiming "its all our own fault".

This isnt unique. We literally picked up the pieces after Saddams troops went into Kuwait and that was a state military.

It helps if you know who you are dealing with.

Kind of a silly statement you just made. Not every aid worker is dying, many are saving lives and making a difference.

In the ME? In the heart of ISIS?

How much is many?

How many lives are saved in this warzone?

How many are saved temporarily just to die later?

They are trying to provoke the western world (specifically us) into over responding. ISIS is a horrible, brutal, and sadistic group. They are not the only one. Latin American drug gangs like Los Zetas have beheaded far more rivals than ISIS has. Hell nuns have been murdered in South America for trying to save the rainforest. The world has a lot of depraved groups in it, we can't be drawn into a war every time one of them tries to provoke us.

You quantify heroism based on the quality of life? What is YOURS worth? Should rescue personnel assess that before they decide to help you, heaven forbid you need it?

The Latin cartels continue to grow and expand now into the US because people continue to allow them to. Brilliant maneuver, that whole ignore them and hoping they will go away tactic. Makes it difficult to breath what with sand in your nostrils and all.

Can we just kill them all now please and forbid journalists from going over there???! Disgusting!!

Unable to comprehend the mindset of ISIS.

This is all done to antagonize the West. Do they hope to be carpet bombed?

I wish we had the intellingence to hit them from an unconventional method that they have never even thought of.

They're trying to draw us all in for some reason. My guess is some kind of religious revelation is telling them to do that to have the mother of all battles where they will beat or drain the west.
