WTF does 9/11 have to do with anything? I was 15 when 9/11 happened. I was well aware of what was happening and knew immediately who attacked us before anything was mentioned on television (I still remember the bin Laden video where he promised something "big" for the US soon after the Kenya bombings.) As a naive teenager, I supported the invasion of Iraq. I thought a "War on Terror" would either end or at least limit terrorism. My position since then has clearly changed.

So please stop with the appeal to emotion. Your experience makes you no wiser on the geo-political situation than anyone else.

Well, first of all, what is a "true" libertarian your majesty?

Second of all, I don't give a **** what they put on their silly little website. They can claim whatever they want, but the mere fact that you refuse (probably because you can't) to give me an example of a popular Tea Partier that is not an evangelical/social conservative shows that their website is only rhetoric. In politics, rhetoric is meaningless. It's actions that define a person/movement/party. If you take political figures/movements/parties at face-value, then, not to be mean, but you're a fool. Obama claims to be a constitutionalist (he even taught constitutional law) yet he has obviously proven otherwise. Does he defend the constitution simply because he says he does? Is the Democratic Party "pro-peace" simply because they say they are? Is the Republican Party "small government" simply because they say they are? What makes the Tea Party any different? The Tea Party can talk about their supposed "values" all day long, but when every majority representative (and I, for the third time, challenge you to prove me otherwise) takes a strong social conservative stance, those "values" are meaningless.

The War on Drugs can have no end. Just look at the most extreme anti-drug environments: Singapore has the death penalty for drug traffickers... but that does not stop the trade. Even our US prisons cannot keep out the drugs. Both drugs and terrorists are real threats... but knee-jerk policies are not the answer.

Combating terrorists wherever they exist IS the answer. There can BE no end to the war on terror. When THEY understand that we have the resolve to act, they crawl back into their holes and make empty threats.

You CANNOT be stupid enough to believe that if you stop fighting them they will just go away...right? You arent one of those people that ignores historical reality regarding Muslim fundamentalists and believe that the US created them, are you?

I have studied the history of ME relations, and that is the exact reason why I have become skeptical of an exclusively militaristic approach to terrorism. The US isn't the sole reason why radicalism exists, but it does play its role. A lot of it began with the installation of the Shah. Our continued support for the Shah stirred up lots of anger. So did our permanent bases in SA. Radicalism, just about anywhere, is born out of oppression. When we stop supporting oppressive policies and oppressive regimes then we will see the dissolution of terrorism and radicalism. Until then, we will continue to see new groups and new leaders pop up no matter how many we kill.
