If they added in the democratic part I'd be vehemently opposed to the embargo.

i dont think ending the embargo will help cubans at all so long as fidel still pulls strings behind the scenes,he is the wealthiest dictator alive and has siphoned much of what the country produced over the years.

raul on the other hand has slowly reversed fidels policies, and can be seen as better towards guiding cuba away from a dictatorship state capitalism.raul was never much a supporter of the comunist state as fidel and che were.so long as fidel stays in the shadows, cuba will not progress even with trade.

cuba actually has well trained doctors, their issue isnt training, its lack of supplies and facilities.part of their main issue is lack of funds for basic medical supplies, further the international comunity is reluctant to donate after canada donated vaccines to cuba, which sold them for profit instead of using them.

The Castros are almost dead. Cubans will be free soon enough, without blaming the struggle for human rights and representation on the West.

Thanks for that ,I'm not aware of that story tbh so will check it out.

I think many people make the mistake of comparing healthcare in Cuba to healthcare in Western countries. It should be compared with other poor countries instead. Then people would see just how hugely impressive things are in Cuba with regards to healthcare for the population
There never has been a peace process, but rather an annexation process that used the “peace process” as a facade

What's the 'estimated' cost of decades under Communism? (one of the worst examples of Communism, BTW)

" Free " to be like what ? The way they were before the revolution ( an offshore brothel for rich Westerners ) ? " Free " to be like Haiti perhaps ?

It's rich to see an American criticizing human rights abuses in Cuba when by far the worst human rights abuses in Cuba occur in the part of Cuba occupied by the USA itself

Yes, locking up terrorists caught on the battlefield is far worse than totalitarianism. I've rarely seen such ignorance.

Since when has America ever been interested in the "principled position"?

They supported the brutal dictatorship of Batista for business interests that lead to the wider support for the communist rebels in the first place...

By opening trade with Cuba and making them play by the same trading rules as everyone else, you gain 12 million consumers for your products and you strengthen the forces of reform and freedom.
