BTW we have dealings with a country that MOST of the 9/11 hijackers come from AND has human rights violations. Seems you are quite ok with that.
They haven't changed, still the same communist regime right off our shores. Still with the iron fisted government rule, oppressing the people. What have they done that should have us consider lifting the embargo?

If Cuba had oil, there wouldn't be an embargo.

With that said...I am dying for a Cuban sandwich all of a sudden. Delicious.

So we should embargo all countries who have a iron fisted government and oppress the people? If so, I think we should embargo China rather than Cuba. They have a billion oppressed people, where Cuba is a small island. Why should we only embargo the little guys?

The U.S. can embargo anybody it wants. The government often embargoes its enemies. Iran and N Korea are other examples.

    Cuba is NOT an enemy.

The USofA is acting the childish and immature fool.

That is an opinion and not shared by the federal government or the Cuban American community of which I am a part. I wouldn't argue that the federal government often acts immaturely and foolishly but not in this case.

My guess is that the embargo will end when the Castros are gone.

Re: Cuba estimates total damage of U.S. embargo at $116.8 billion

For me, personally, the issue has no relevance but I would offer the following points for consideration:

    1. What economic interests of the United States are served by Cuba that aren't already readily served by any number of other Caribbean countries let alone the rest of the world's economies? You can note that he US does business with China, Saudi Arabia, etc., but those nations offer America goods it needs and wants - what does Cuba offer?

    2. I seem to recall that after the Cuban revolution, the state confiscated the land and business assets of American citizens and restitution has never been made in this regard. Is there any other country in the world that America has open economic relations with where similar state seizures have occurred and not been rectified? Along those same lines, there are many Cubans who saw their land and assets seized and had to flee in order to save their own lives - what restitution is being offered to these families?

Oh, did I say all countries? Don't bother looking, because no I did not. Every country is different, so there is no uniform way to deal with them. Do we deal with North Korea the same way we deal with countries in the Middle East? Of course not.

Right. Like I said. Childish. Immature.

    I'll add one more: HYPOCRITE

The USofA has NOTHING to lose by ending the embargo.
    Nothing.

By continuing it, we just look like bigger and bigger fools.

Yes, I think Obama or Harry Reid should bring this idea up tomorrow and announce it in Miami, Florida. ...No need to wait until after the election.
