It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.

Of course not! But if i didn't take swimming in high school, i didn't graduate.

You ignore the portion of the quote which already addresses your comment.

Yes, I know. Your fault for not paying attention.

Your post is referred to as fallacy.

No. What you have said is. You can't prove what a star student is.

    Your failure. Not mine.

In this case, she doesn't deserve to be treated any differently than any other student. Nor should any student be treated differently.
Yes students are treated differently in accordance with their levels of understanding, personalities, issues they have, age, and many other reasons.

Other students with something similar going on should have been given the same considerations and had their absences excused for those reasons. I don't care if it was to go to some sports competition, so long as they are keeping up with their academic requirements, it is a legitimate event, and they are not a discipline problem at the school, then they should be excused for absences like these. Learning should come first, but if they are proving they are learning without having to be in the classroom every single day they aren't dying sick, then there is no reason not to excuse their absences.

Your comment still is inherently short-sighted.

An unfortunate emergence of life, e.g. a disability, is the lone exception to applying different treatment. Sorry, i disagree. As stated, China needs disciplined factory workers. Time to grow up.

Seems that this 12 year old student is not the only prodigy here. The members of the school board are truly top of the line assholes.

The Washington Post has published an inaccurate headline in favor of sensationalism, and people here are eager to debate it without finding out the facts???
    Oh say it ain't so!

When I was a kid in school, there was another grade, called citizenship. If you acted like a jerk, it was reflected in your grade.

I don't have to prove anything. Being a star student (subjective) has nothing to do with whether one be excused from attendance.

No need to continue responding in a fallacious manner.
