    Record rainfall swamps Southwest

    Record rainfall swamps Southwest

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport recorded 3.29 inches of rain, which broke the all-time calendar day record total of 2.91 inches, the National Weather Service reported.

3.29 freegin inches drowned phoenix. 3.29... unreal.

I lived in phoenix for 12 years but I grew up in south Georgia where there is more rainfall there per year than they get in Seattle. Talk about a culture shock when I moved there. Can't believe 3.29 inches did this to Phoenix. No drainage and it's also a valley so the rainfall on the mountains run down and fill the bowl.

I haven't seen that. Just the cars floating in the road.

Well, its a political forum not a weather forum. There's a weather channel you may be interested in. Its widely available. Also, weather.com. You can get radar maps and everything.

Let's see, this is the "Breaking News - Mainstream Media" subforum.

Sorry, charlie, but it looks like your complaint has no merit.

    Re: Record rainfall swamps Southwest

I got up to pee at 0230 this morning, heard a sound like a jet overhead...got louder, then rain...big rain.

Spent all my life in this town and this was the most intense amount of rain at once. As my house has an added part to it, which is below the rest of the house, I raced to my patio. Unplugged the extension cords to my hydroponic tomatoes and got to the push broom. Water was 3/4 of the way up to the house, there I am, naked as the eyes of a clown, pushing water into the yard for 45 minutes straight, with a side trip to the pool pump to turn on the backwash, lest the pool overflow. Forget about the koi pond overflowing....

Lot of work in the early hours, and of course the flat foam roof part of the house was leaking, I went up and spread a few gallons of paste over all the other areas I haven't already hit....pumped out a few inches from the pool, bailed out about 35 gallons from the pond. It was nuts. Thankfully, I work at home, so I didn't have to brave the mess out there on the roads.

We get about 8-9 inches of rain a year, my area of PHX got over 4 inches in a few hours today.

At 0630 I decided to drive to Circle K and get some coffee, the roads were a mess, the city had been out dumping gravel and dirt in spots to make it more drive able.

Crazy stuff, glad that the regular arched roof held, it needs to be redone soon.
