Unidentified Respiratory Virus Likely to Hit Kids Across Country

I'm just waiting for some RW wack-job to blame the increase in Black violence in Chicago on these kids...

Nah, cops did it. You know how much they love being assholes and destroying lives unnecessarily. /sarcasm

They weren't health screened before they went sent to other states.

... you think they were wearing biohazard suits until they got to their destinations or something?

One can be a carrier without any symptoms.

Not saying this latest round of illegals are to blame for this outbreak but, their systems tolerate a whole different spectrum of germs that kids in our country do not.

I should hope you're not saying that, because you have literally zero evidence that this would be the case, and actually have evidence against it. You're stretching, because you want this random disease to be Obama's fault.

Why not? There's plenty of proof the reason they are here is because o f his policies.

Personally we've got young grand children to worry about.

I could spend time telling you how ridiculous this is, but it's not relevant. Kids crossing the border from Mexico did not cause this disease outbreak. You just will really do whatever it takes to make any bad thing Obama's fault. Seek treatment for your Obama Derangement Syndrome before it's too late.

I'm sure that open borders, and thousands of children who went virtually un-screened for disease, then shipped to the interior of the US have nothing to do with this....

To be truthful, I don't know if it did or didn't but I wouldn't be surprised....

If the roots of this virus is link to the open borders, then explain to me why the border states have not been impacted?

You get some help for your WCH Derangement syndrome caused by your love for opposition and inability to discern the seriousness o f practically any situation.

We're having a rash of the intestinal version here in Texas.

Those kids were scurried off across the country fairly quickly.

What part of "illnesses happen" do you not understand? If we put a 1000 ft wall around the US, and monitored every single person in here, ensuring no extras made it in, we would still have communicable diseases, viruses. They mutate from older ones so they can survive. That is how it works. There is no real logic in blaming illegal immigrants for every single outbreak of some illness the US has, because most of them have nothing to do with illegal immigration. The few that you might be able to blame on illegal immigrants are going to be the ones that we immunize here for, and other countries illegal immigrants are coming from don't. This is absolutely not one of those.

I'm all for stopping illegal immigration and making them all "go to the back of the line", children or not, but it is ignorant to place blame where you have no proof or evidence that it belongs on that group.

I'm not saying that is or isn't the reason. But, it's funny you O-supporters are so knee jerk that you can't even read the OP without immediately jumping to ad hom, defense toward anyone that might be discussing the outcome of a bad policy. I thought that policy criticism was acceptable. Guess that was just another lie.

The problem in this case is that you can't show that this outbreak has anything whatsoever to do with illegal immigration, let alone Obama's policies toward that. This is a virus we don't immunize for, likely a mutation of something that has been here a long time that simply mutated past the point where most have an immunity to it in their system. It happens all the time. Usually, such illnesses don't cause this many problems, but in reality, has anyone died yet? I'm not saying it is good to have them in the hospital either or even just sick (believe me, I just spent the last week with a sick family and I'm feeling it today), but this is part of nature, not likely due to a stupid government policy.

It's an illness that should be watched out for. Which is why you shouldn't waste your time with wild conspiracy theories about it coming in from Mexico. You have absolutely no evidence that this is the case, and you decided this thread needed to be about Obama anyway.

You want to criticize border policy? Why? This thread is about a respiratory illness that isn't even near the border. Maybe you want to talk about Benghazi in this thread too.

I got that, please go back to page 1 and read the series of posts between myself WCH, and ditto.

Your faux outrage is noted.

It would seem the first reported illness was in California in 1962...

First isolated in California in 1962 from four children with bronchiolitis and pneumonia,[2] HEV68 has been reported rarely since that time and the full spectrum of illness that it can cause is unknown.

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/751032

Hard to say if all four were recent immigrants...

Based on the historical data, no evidence of animal origin, and such an early identification of the strain, I would suggest the evidence points in the other direction and that like a lot of viruses it has developed bypasses for our immunity systems.

Naysay much?

I just presented a possible scenario and now I'm being accused of blaming everything bad that happens on Obama or other illegal aliens.

Found this to show where these children (MOSTLY FROM CENTRAL AMERICA) have landed. [with minimal health screening]

Like I said, we have many cases of a stomach bug here which could be in the same family of viruses. Give it a few weeks to see if the respiratory version shows up in other states.

In this case, you mentioning those illegal alien children or unaccompanied children of illegal aliens that were "scurried across the country" rather quickly indicates that you are trying to make a connection between them and this virus strand (which isn't new I see, just rare). So until you have some evidence that this particular outbreak is due to illegal aliens in some way, then it is wrong to bring them up in this thread.

The OP already brought it up.

Children crossing border illegally: A possible public health crisis from detention centers.

"As many as 50,000 children, mostly from Central American countries, are now being housed in cramped makeshift detention centers by the U.S. government. Unfortunately, they are not being detained for the purpose of identifying illness, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement relying on self-report of symptoms, and many have already been sent to other states, where disease can spread."

I'm not making any of this up.

I get that the OP brought it up to. However, that doesn't change the fact that there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that this particular outbreak started because of unscreened illegal immigrants. In fact, it isn't likely at all given the nature of this virus, since it's symptoms come on fast. It would have almost certainly showed up in those states where they were being detained or came into first, then spread out. Not showed up in farther away states. This isn't something that has a vaccination, so even that wouldn't have mattered.
