Poll: 71 percent say keep Redskin

I rooted for them until they ran out on the field with their hands up.

Now, I dont care if the disband the team.

So only irrational people get offended? Seriously?

Nothing offends you. Yea right.

Yup its only just progressives.

Yes, nothing offends me - not from someone like you.

You see, I would have to care about your opinion to even get offended and there are few people in this world that I actually care enough about to care about their opinion enough to get offended...

When someone doesn't matter to me I could care less what they do or think...

Just as long as you're not physically attacking someone you can do and think whatever you want..

The notion of "being offended" is just another trick by progressives in an attempt shut people up or change policy - it's some sort of game to them.

So yeah, being offended is generally either a social game or a mental disorder.

Why the hell would you care what someone you don't even know or even like thinks or believes?

It appears you just want society to bend over backwards for you, and I'm not offended by that - I just find it disgusting that you believe society should honor you and your beliefs in such a way - like you're so special that democracy doesn't even apply to your wants and needs.

The only people who have a right to be offended about the name 'redskins' are Indians. I haven't seen or heard a good reason yet why they shouldn't be.

The funny part is that those doing the most bitching are white progressives. Then of course they're always the ones talking for someone else.

I don't even understand how "Redskins" is even remotely racist or even negative....

I know Asians that call themselves "Yellow" with pride, I know Mexicans that call themselves "Brown" with pride but all of a sudden "Redskins" is somehow racist or demeaning?

Hell, Italians/Sicilians call themselves "Olive"

Of all the indian-based names, this one is the most likely to be offensive.

Go 'Noles!

A Chief or Brave is a job, not a race. The 'Noles are not a race but a tribe and they gave permission.

The issue has nothing to do with anyone being offended. Stereotyping a race is bad for society. Do you support racial stereotypes?

If Native Americans themselves want the name changed, it should be changed.

Not all American Indians are offended by it. A large majority of them are indifferent on the issue.
So...should the name be forcibly changed just because a few American Indians have a burr up their asses about it? I say NO.

Besides...not all of the whiners are AIs. Most of the cry babies are PC Leftists who have nothing better to do then to go around raising a stink over something and act like the world will explode if it's not changed to suit their braindead ideals.

Who cares? Stereotyping a race is bad for society. Do you support racial stereotyping?

Several politicians have urged NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to force team owner Dan Snyder to change the name, including Attorney General Eric Holder, Sen. Harry Reid and former secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

These 3 need something else to keep them busy. The Senate Majority leader isn't supposed to be involving himself in pro football names, FFS, and that fool Holder - WTF is he thinking weighing in? STFU. Hillary, meh I can forgive her, she needs to stay relevant and in the public eye.

I don't care if they change it or not. As a lifelong Giants fan, I will hate the 'Skins no matter what.

Several politicians? That's inaccurate. 50 Dumbo Senators (including Senile Harry) took the time to create and sign a letter demanding the name be changed.

Who cares? Stereotyping a race is bad for society. Do you support racial stereotyping?

Who's stereotying? Not me! I see no stereotyping in the term "Redskins" in this context.
Don't go flinging around the race card.

You don't think the whole 'war paint' thing stereotypes Native Americans? It's not like their name is 'warriors' or 'braves', it's Redskins.

The name clearly stereotypes Native Americans as militant warriors, while that's not the truth about all NAs then or now.

Washington Redskins name controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the 1940s the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) created a campaign to eliminate negative stereotyping of Native American people in the media. Over time, the campaign began to focus on Indian names and mascots in sports.[267] The NCAI maintains that teams with mascots such as the Braves and the Redskins perpetuate negative stereotypes of Native American people, and demean their native traditions and rituals.[268] The NCAI issued a new report in 2013 summarizing opposition to Indian mascots and team names generally, and the Washington Redskins in particular.[269] In the trademark case, the board placed significance on the NCAI opposition, estimating that the organization represented about 30% of the Native American population at the time the trademarks were granted.[270]

The irony is most Indian tribes have no problem with the name.

The real irony is that most of the Indians who claim they don't have a problem with the name aren't even real Indians. lol

"...In May 2013, the Redskins' website reported the opinions of a local fan, Stephen D. Dodson, who claimed to be a chief and "full-blooded American Inuit originally from the Aleutian Tribes of Alaska." He said that not only was "Redskins" not offensive to him and his "whole family", but it was a "term of endearment" that Indians "on the reservation [...] would call each other".[157] On June 5, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell wrote a letter to Congress, which in part pointed to "recent remarks from Chief Steven Dodson, an American Inuit chief" to indicate support for the nickname among Native Americans.[158]

Two weeks later, Dave McKenna of Deadspin reported that the Redskins' "full-blooded American Inuit chief" was "neither a full-blooded American Inuit nor a chief in any formal sense," and "Chief" was only a nickname. The only documentation McKenna found that referred to Dodson as "Chief" was on a list of AKAs from court records related to "theft, paternity, and domestic violence matters." (The same records say Dodson's middle name is "Dallas.") McKenna quotes Kelly Eningowuk, executive director of the Inuit Circumpolar Council-Alaska, who says that neither "Chief" nor "Indian" are terms used by Alaska's native peoples in self-description. She said the pow wows Dodson claims to have attended would be irrelevant to his supposed Inuit ancestry.[159]

While acknowledging the Deadspin report, The Washington Free Beacon named Dodson its 2013 Man of the Year, "For standing up for the free speech rights of the powerful yet pathetic."[160]...read..."

No most aren't American Indians - they're white progressives...

The American Indian population isn't very large unlike the white progressive population.

Either way it is still a stupid thing to bitch about..

I don't think you did.

Do you support racial stereotyping? It's a simple question, a yes or no will do.

I do if the racial stereotyping is accurate.

Truth is not wrong and there should be no shame in observation..

You believe all Native Americans are warmongers?

You believe all Native Americans are warmongers?

No, absolutely not...

My point was merely some perceived negative stereotypes of all cultures and races are accurate.

That's all...

All stereotypes cannot always be positive...

False.

All stereotypes cannot always be positive...

Who cares if they are positive or not?

Now that we've established what stereotype means, perhaps you can justify stereotyping a race?

You're living in la la land if you actually believe stereotypes don't exist..

Well, I believe in the Bell Curve if you even know what that is.

If everyone was the same the science of Anthropology wouldn't even exist because it would be a redundant science.

Sorry but facts cant always be politically correct.

Indians will always be a minority but the vast majority of them appear to be against the name.
