I was told that nobody should care at all what happened to those two cops. That means nothing that happns to them should concern us no matter what. If their houses got firebombed tonight, according to Wiggen (at least), we should regard that with no interest or concern at all. How about Henrin saying that it would be better to watch a cop die than try to help. If you think my examples are ridiculous, like I have zero reason to believe people think that way, open your eyes.
Sorry if I offended you. I was trying to say that if in fact some loon who disagrees with you actually thinks the cops and their families should be drug out into the street and bludgeoned they are on the fringe and stop holding everyone who disagrees with you accountable to the words of some whack job that would think such a thing.

I don't believe they should be held to impossible standards or expected to be super human. It would be nice if people wanted to equip them to deal with the stress of the job for the sake of the cop but I haven't seen anyone be interested in their mental health, just concern over how they can "serve" us.
Are you suggesting that doing this job objectively and keeping your emotions in check is impossible for them to achieve? I have more faith in them than that. I believe with the proper training reasonable standards can be established and achieved.

Both decisions were good decisions. Police officers do not own the community. They work FOR the community, and the community is the boss, not them. I know that tensions have been running high in Ferguson, but if you threaten to kill people, then you do not deserve to wear a badge under ANY circumstances. End of discussion....... Or is it?

    Article is here.
Cool. Those doing uncalled for things during this unrest should face the consequence. I sincerely hope we see similar stories and posts for those that engaged in looting over the past few weeks being hit with consequences as well

I catch the insinuation here. Just FYI, I posted about a week ago that those who rioted needed to go to jail.

Angry protesters are not the same as angry police. Police once again have a legal monopoly on violence and the power of the state behind them. You cannot equate an angry citizen with an angry cop.
    I disagree.

LE misconduct/violance is investigated and when found guilty are held accountable.

Actually I did a few times. Ever work with the public before? Hell, I worked with the public for 10 years and I don't deal with the worst bits of society either. After 10 years of dealing with azzholes, I got totally burnt out and decided to give it up. I don't know how the police do it to be honest.

Commercial gun sales do have background checks. That's the majority.

Maybe if there are a couple of cops using the forum, they'll step up and tell us if there is or not.

I'd also like to know if there's a code of silence within PD's too. I have to believe there is because of all the corruption that was a pattern in Chicago, and some other cities.
