But then that would cut Halliburton, KBR and all our defense contractors out of their much needed jobs.
except that none of the countries could be controlled by ISIS or Al Qaeda, or any such entity as they could be counted on to step outside of their borders.

Perhaps, but they would be at that point all in one spot, easier to target without harming others as isn't the case presently. Also Ditto, it was an attempt to find common ground with another poster more so then a absolute remedy to the problem that exists right now. Prevention was a whole lot easier to articulate then cure at this point.
Killing one person is murder, killing 100,000 is foreign policy

The west has been fighting in the ME for over 6 decades now, blowing things up and killing folk. You can't expect it to turn around on a dime.
It's also Muslims who have also been fighting each other in the Middle East and elsewhere, who have been after the Jews and are now, as in the past, turning on Christians.

It seems clear that people living in the democracies do now want war, just as most people in the Middle East would not want one either if they were given the choice. But they do not have the option, like us, to say no. I doubt many Muslims voted for ISL but Muslim and non-Muslim alike are stuck with them and they have to be dealt with. Mid East leaders appear to understand this also.
