So U.S. governments (at all levels) should get their piece of that commerce, if anyone should.

They pay for access to the market, and for the services those governments provide.

Would reducing the Corporate tax, and adding a VAT be acceptable to you corporate tax haters?
No, a VAT is worse because it applies a hidden tax at every level of production, which makes things more complicated, not less. Furthermore, a company simply passes down any cost, including taxes to the consumer. WHich means there is no purpose in paying taxes for corporations (other than certain fees for specific services). I as an individual already pay for 'access to the market' and services. What more am I getting with any taxes my business might pay?

If the 1% need to 'pay their fair share' as Obama, Reid and any other Democrats insist, I guess the loss of jobs and revenues that directly and negatively impact the non-1%ers is their fair share?

My, how comforting that it'll be for them when they are in the unemployment line and / or can't pay their grocery (or other) bills.

Until Congress learns how to balance a budget...hell...PASS a ****ing budget, every American owned major corporation should look to go elsewhere or just hibernate for a few years.

It takes total chutzpah for ANY elected representative to talk **** about 'responsibility'.

Indeed. A VAT tax is the most regressive tax system imaginable. It causes damage down the entire value chain from front to back, and places the highest burden on the consumer.

No, the real solution is to get the government to spend less, tax less, and simply do less, and that which it does and should do, it should do more efficiently and more effectively, requiring less cost and expense. Government is overhead, and as such, overhead can't consume the host that it's getting it's revenues from. That's just plain fiscal madness.

I'm talking about the corporation's access to the marketplace (you,) not your individual access to the marketplace.

It seems to me that we are undervaluing the customer's role in this, by allowing Burger King and other to profit in our markets while sidestepping the taxes.

A VAT would address this, by tying the tax to the transactions directly. I'm not saying it's ideal or that's there's no better way, but at least a larger portion of the taxes would be going to the regions that generate the demand.

Curious about who you mean when you say 'you'. He regularly hangs out with Obama and in fact was kinda his go to financial guru. You know...that same Obama that spends hours on the golf course with lobbyists and representatives of (gasp) Bain Financial, amongst other robber baron finanical organizations.

    'You'...who?

Re: Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown calls for Burger King boycott over Tim Hortons deal

I used to go to Burger King for lunch, since it was down the road from the Auto Parts store I worked at in college. I got a burger with frozen lettuce on it and cold fries. I stopped going. 2 years later, my friends drove for lunch, wanted Burger King. I protested, but agree to go. I got a burger, with frozen lettuce on it. So, I am already boycotting, but for different reasons. Maybe I'll lift the boycott, since I support their decision to run their company and make profits for the shareholders. Maybe after 33 years, I can get a well made burger?

I was about to post mostly the same story. Plus, if they start selling Tim Bits.....

If I have multiple similar products to choose from and I don't like the actions of one of the companies providing those products, I will choose to not buy the product of that company.

I stopped going there quite a while ago.

Here in Mexico they switched from Coke to Pepsi and that is a big No-No for me.

They save a little on the price but we as customers have to drink that stuff. Pepsi tastes terrible here in Mexico.
