ISIS Demands $6.6M Ransom for 26-Year-Old American Woman.....

Let's see.

ISIS rolls across the east and north of Syria and Iraq, capturing cities and recruiting the populace in a local brand of "regime change."

An American free-lance journalist is beheaded. Unlike the assassination of a sitting Ambassador in Benghazi, the Obama administration [with a city in siege] determines this atrocity must be met with air raids and drone attacks.

Result" ISIS takes US citizen hostage and demands a whopping $3,000,000,000.

Yep, Obama's middle east policy is working....sure has ISIS on the run.

You forgot after Obama made a 3 minute statement on the tragic murder of Foley he was back on the golf course yuking it up.............I can't tell you how this burns me up. This man is the ultimate scumbag.

They still haven't gotten a clue that the U.S. government doesn't pay ransom to terrorists...and while their murder of Foley was bad, just wait to see what America does if they murder an American woman. As much as it's not really talked about, chivalry is still very much a part of our culture. They haven't seen us well and truly pissed yet.

What about releasing 5 of the worse terrorists for the alleged traitor Berghdal?

Is that not ransom in kind? God forbid if that young lady is murdered BO will make a 3 minute statement and be back of the golf course.

Pay it if need be and get her out of there. We should do our utmost to save our citizens. ISIS won't be substantially boosted by such a minor cash infusion and we've done this many times in the past.

You can not negotiate with terrorists.......what part of that do you not understand my left wing friend???

I can understand that. It is funny what will stay with people. We had a Premier whose wife chose to wear a headband during his election and to this day, 20 years later people still go nuts.

For me it was Christmas holidays when Americans were hurting, losing their homes and jobs. The shots of him with his feet up on the historical furniture made that far worse. Reagan was known as cruel to the poor but he stayed at the White House to give staff time with their families.

Agreed, but Reagan was never cruel to the poor.

I read some of the posts in this thread, more than half and I have to say our country doesn't have the stomach for the solution. Our country doesn't understand the mindset they are dealing with. It is like trying to be nice to them so they will be nice back to us. It makes us look weak.

I say we demand double the ransom and the hostage or we bomb the living **** out of them.

Ignorance is believing that piece of **** blog written by some dick head then quoting it like it's some form of truth. And believe me, I ain't no Obama apologist.

If you don't think the Bush Administrations actions had anything to do with the growing hate in the ME, then common sense and critical thinking are not your forte.

Whats really funny is you talking about ignorance and with someone on a blog that knows the complete issue. While you have no clue about Foreign Policy - other than to blame Bush Junior.....which is why you didn't know anything about what the French have been up to. Nor knew anything else that was an actual fact.

So basically you dropped in to dump on Bush.....while ignoring everything YOUR Precious BO peep said with his own words and then his own behaviors. For that which he is the Cause of.

But don't worry the Kool aid affect will wear off once BO peep hits pasture. Just sayin.

Mornin' Sherman. :2wave: Why should the US Government pay? How about the News Outlet or whomever she works for Paying for it. Then it would not be the US government negotiating.

MMC, These tactics will never end........We can not negotiate with terrorists........That is the bottom line.

I agree NP.....but now the MS media has the issue out in the open. Naturally due to the hostage being an American woman. The MS Media will push this issue and play on it. To try and get Team BO to do something.

Now ISIS will play on BO's emotions and test that Negotiation Process we have. This time with a woman. What do you think the outrage will be if they Cut a US Woman's Head off?

A third American hostage held by ISIS has been identified as a 26-year-old American woman who was kidnapped a year ago while doing humanitarian relief work in Syria. The terror group is demanding $6.6 million and the release of U.S. prisoners for the life of the young woman, who the family requested not be identified.

In addition to the multi-million dollar ransom, the terror group has also demanded that the U.S. release Aafia Siddiqui, an MIT-trained neuroscientist who was convicted by the U.S. in 2010 of trying to kill U.S. officials two years before, according to a supporter of Siddiqui who has been in contact with the hostage’s family.....snip~

ISIS Demands $6.6M Ransom for 26-Year-Old American Woman - ABC News

Oh.....that's ABC 45 mins ago.

You can expect more incidents like these since our government decided to start another war instead of doing the right thing, pulling out of the entire middle east.

Damned if we do; damned if we don't.

Mornin' Pos. :2wave: Well Al Qaida is currently trying to negotiate the hostages they have. I also think.....they too have a woman.

To pull completely out of the ME.....we would have to have a different mind set when it comes to resources. As well as not ever needing anything from there. Might be feasible if there was never any reason to have interests pertaining to that Region.

Don't give them anything, tell them that if they are willing to target civilians, we'll do the same and then bomb the living crap out of their families. Tell them that for every American civilian life that is lost, we'll kill a thousand of their people. Sooner or later, they either stop or they run out of people.

"Sadly" we can't play by their rules. Because that would work.

Thats the problem, I think the only reason why we are messing in the middle east is because of oil, even though Saudi Arabia and Qatar were giving oodles of money to ISIS and the US has got enough oil reserves to be independent if we decided to develop the infrastructure for it.

That's not what I am hearing.....all due to fracking. Mining resources from Space. Some think the US will be independent of ME oil in less than a decade. How they looking on gold? We might be needing plenty of it for Space exploration and or establishing bases.

Still there are Allies to consider. Israel, Egypt, and the Kurds.

It's better if we don't pay these types of ransoms. Ever. If we did, we'd just turn the taking of American hostages into a business and end up financing Isis with it. I also don't think there's really much we can do to stop these killings either. We just have to remember that far more Americans die from car accidents then will ever be killed by Isis.

However it gets paid I just want her returned safely.

Not really fracking, more like oil shale. Apparently the US has got the largest oil shale reserves in the world, it is rumored to contain more oil than all of OPEC combined. So in the end, we are cozying up to Saudi Arabia simply because we are too lazy to develop our infrastructure.

As far as our other "allies", Egypt is pretty much unreliable, Isreal gets us into trouble all the time and the Kurds arent really a country. I dont think they're worth it.

And while we do not negotiate with terrorists for civilian kidnap victims, we have a long, long history of trading prisoners in order to get back our own military. And we're not alone in this respect since not too long ago Israel traded over 1000 Palestinian prisoners for 1 - one - Israeli soldier that had been captured.

It may be a mute point.....how they looking on that gold?

Saudi and UAE leaders in particular have expressed concern that Washington can no longer be counted on, citing US diplomatic overtures to Iran and a cautious approach to the Syrian conflict. The lesson of Syria still resonates... that you cannot depend on America or the West... America is no longer reliable," says Abdulla.

The Emiratis are "also concerned about the role of Qatar, their rival, inside Libya," he added. Qatar also participated in the anti-Kadhafi campaign in 2011. However, the Gulf neighbours, whose relations are overshadowed by unprecedented tensions, have backed rival factions in Libya and continue to do so, experts say. "Qatar is backing the Islamist Brotherhood factions in Libya with weapons and... the Emiratis would feel compelled to step up their involvement," says Wehrey.....snip~
