Don't worry, all this feigned outrage by the right is just a diversion to not look at this cops background. These same posters didn't have any trouble digging up all the dirt on Michael Brown.

Let's just focus on that. Not his past, or the officer's past. Let's just focus on what happened the day he was shot.

Wilson got a job in the police department in the nearby city of Ferguson.

People who know him describe him as someone who grew up in a home marked by multiple divorces and tangles with the law. His mother died when he was in high school. ( I read in a different article that she was a con-woman who killed herself) A friend said a career in law enforcement offered him structure in what had been a chaotic life.

Wilson has had some recent personal turmoil: Last year, he petitioned the court seeking a divorce from his wife, Ashley Nicole Wilson, and they formally split in November, records show

when Wilson was a freshman in high school, his mother pleaded guilty to forgery and stealing. She was sentenced to five years in prison, although records suggest the court agreed to let her serve her sentence on probation.

    Darren Wilson

So why wasn't this story released like the story was suppose to be so incriminating and telling about MBs "character"? What does this tell you about officer Wilson?

Frankly, I'm just as appalled by the release of this kind of information about this officer as I am by the blatant attempts at manipulating the narrative by the release of personal information about MB. Can we all agree to ignore this kind of crap?
So.... of all that..... the only thing that really applied to Wilson was that he got a divorce.

Damn... he must be an evil man.

Seriously.... something his mom did while he was 14 years old is hardly newsworthy.

but isn't that the point; to equate what was done by others in the policeman's life with the robbery committed by the deceased before his demise
    a VERY false equivalency

It is not irrelevant that the "gentle giant" was seen bullying a store clerk moments before his death, when the idea that he was a "gentle giant" was a part of the emotional story which caused this case to get so much interest in the first place.

What IS irrelevant is the fact that the Officer's mom was a con woman who was arrested and convicted when he was a freshman in high school and died some few years later.

Because we were taking a dig at the media for drumming up this idea that Micheal Brown was this sweet innocent gentle giant in order to enhance the emotional response to this shooting.

    There is a huge difference.

Have you read through this thread? I'm not the only one who hasn't read any "dirt" on Brown and who also doesn't see the relevance of Wilson's parents or his divorce. Maybe you can explain why you think they matter.

Is it time yet to move the bazillion Ferguson threads to their own topic?

Good morning OD - hope all is well with you.

I don't know what it is about this issue, but I find your approach to it to be puzzling and frankly, disgraceful.

You ask "can we agree to ignore this kind of crap" after you create a thread and post a bunch of irrelevant, personal information about the officer involved. That's like an arsonist burning down his neighbour's home and then suggesting they should all just be friends.

This post and this thread is very disappointing, in my view. But hey, everyone's entitled to their view.
