So can I assume you are posting from Ferguson?
I wouldn't.
So can I assume you are posting from Ferguson?
Testimony? You have reports under oath?
Sharpton is the one bemoaning the shooting by police of unarmed men, isn't he? Why, yes he is.
I'm not.
Come on OV. You're making this about generational oppression, to which I would say that although there are more opportunities for black people in every aspect of society than ever before, there is still some out there that are racist, and probably always will be. But those are the exception to the rule today.
As to why the media hypes this so? I'd say that most in the MSM are dyed in the wool liberals, that are either displaying classic "white guilt", or they view themselves as as some kind of useful pawns to the race hustling grievance industry. Either way they are not being honest about it, especially when black on black crime is the predominantly overwhelming reason for black men dying today under circumstance of gun play.
I fully understand why you're upset about the lack of reporting on the death of the White men and the clear racial attack of the elderly White woman. You hear all the media reports of young Black male teens being killed by cops or White people being harassed by Black teens or killed by Black cops and you wonder "where's the fairness and justice" being shown to Blacks when these same crimes are happening to Whites. Believe me, as a Black man, I understand your frustration here. But as I've said to other posters here who have identified themselves as White, the reason there doesn't seem to be much outrage over such stories is because historically Whites haven't been mistreated and oppressed in this country in the ways Black and other minorities have for as long as they have. Culturally speaking, the wounds are deeper when it's a Black person or a Black community that is perceived to have been unjustly treated and the media makes sure the nation sees the gaping wholes. Unfortunately, the absence of such storylines also prove to reflect a purposeful disparity in [reporting that] White people can also be mistreated [at times at the hands of Black people].
None of this justifies the lack of reporting/lack of attention of such cruelty. But hopefully this sheds some light on why much of it never makes the national news.
No, I am not. I'm merely attempting to illustrate to you why the media plays the race card where physical assault and/or the death of a Black person by a White person is more commonly reported in U.S. media than the assault and/or death of a White person by a Black person. It's very apparent that when such events happen, Blacks tend to take such acts more personally because of the dark history this country has in its treatment towards minorities, Blacks in particular. To illustrate this point yet again, below is the relevant portion of my previous post on the matter:
Note: Edits to original post in brackets
Just because I mention "culturally deep wounds" felt by Blacks when collectively we feel an injustice has been perpetrated against us doesn't mean I'm speaking directly to generations of oppression felt at the hands of White people. My post didn't address such cruelties at all. I merely pointed out why the media plays on that "generational snapshot of racial cruelty".
Well, I believe it is because they play the ratings game with aiding the race baiting industry...Look at MSNBC, Sharpton has his own show for goodness sake. Do you really think he deserves a show? You think he is broadcast material?
So you are claiming to have seen grand jury testimony?Don't know, do you? The point is that there are conflicting witness reports, so whether or not Brown's killing was justified, hasn't been determined. A Grand Jury is working it now.
So you are claiming to have seen grand jury testimony?
And these are statements made under oath? No, only witness testimony that I've seen in print.
And these are statements made under oath?
If so the ones who have lied should be prosecuted, found guilty and fined heavily.
mmmmmmm-k....Unfortunately that is not why Sharpton is there, that is not why Jackson showed up too...Clearly the media also sees this as a race issue, that's why for nearly half a month we were treated to non stop coverage, with breathless reporters pushing the race of the cop, and the race of Brown....So, you'll excuse me if I don't buy it totally, but good for you if true.
If the grand jury hears the witnesses then testimony will be taken.I don't know whether or not the statements we've all read from witnesses were made under oath or not. But right now a Grand Jury is hearing prosecutors evidence that they hope will convince the panel that there is probable cause that Wilson wrongfully killed Brown. And there's a reason why the GJ has a reputation of being a rubber stamp.
Who am I to question whether or not Al Sharpton is qualified to host a national broadcast news show, if he deserves such or if he's even "broadcast material"?
Clearly, somebody believed him qualified to do the job. So, they hired him. What those qualification were I don't know, but even if it were his years of social outreach within African-American communities in NYC or the mere fact that he's an outspoken Black man, somebody thought well enough of him to give him a job where he sits before the TV camera and speaks to a national viewing audience.
Now, if you want to get technical, I think as highly of Bill O'Rielly and Rush Limbaugh as you do All Sharpton (and presumably, Jessie Jackson), but I won't question whether or not any of them deserve their own news/radio talk show or if they're broadcast material.
However, I reserve the right to call each an idiot if I so desire and agree or disagree with their stated positions as I so please. And so do you.
(And for the record, I don't care for Al Sharpton nor Jessie Jackson. I think both are opportunist, not activist. Of course, even if they were activist my opinion of both men wouldn't change. As to the video you posted above...HILARIOUS!...Yes, the man was a train wreck that day. :lamo)
