Two rallies, one racial divide over Ferguson shooting

This thread is more about racialism than it is racism.

Martin Luther King once made a statement in regards to judging a person based upon the quality of their character instead of the color of their skin. Racialists have turned that one on its ear, as they defend this intimidating thug solely on the basis of his skin color and not the quality of his character.

Replacing an old system of prejudice with one that is its opposite is not progress. Being born with black skin does not give a person the right to rob and intimidate any more than being born Muslim gives one the right to terrorize. Unfortunately, far too many think it does as they are so overeager to appear unprejudiced that they adhere to extreme prejudice by way of defense.

As the crow flies the two rallies held Saturday afternoon over the fatal shooting of an unarrmed black teen by a white policeman were about 10 miles (16 km) apart, but the racial divide that separated them made that distance seem infinitely greater.

Anyone who thinks that there's no racism and no racial division in the USA could learn a lot in Ferguson, Mo.

But they'd have to keep their eyes, ears and minds open.

I predict that some people in the USA will learn nothing from the Ferguson tragedy and similar events because they have their eyes, ears and minds closed.

I believe people who openly challenge authority and rule of law will learn nothing from any of this.

I also see the fact that there were 12 million arrests last year and only 400 police involved shootings. Although the media and their race-baiting partners would like for us to believe differently, it is indeed a rare event where it's not justified.

the fatal shooting of an unarrmed black teen by a white policeman .

I suppose not everybody is equipped with the sort of mind capable of analyzing the myriad ways in which information is presented in order to frame an interaction in such a way as to elicit the desired response, but this "unarmed black teen" meme has been chosen in order to influence perception.

The person who wrote this could have just as easily said "the fatal shooting of a 300 pound robbery suspect by the police", but had they done so, they would have not succeeded in their agenda, which was to elicit the desired reaction in the reader. By eliminating the race of the robbery suspect and policeman, the actual actions could be evaluated with less prejudice, and while this hulking man was 18, characterizing him as a "teenager", while true technically, is nevertheless an attempt to deceive. He was a quite fully grown adult and not some little kid.

If people wish to display they are little more than programmable automatons who simply react in ways that are nothing more than a conditioned response, by all means, do fall for this sort of framing mechanism that attempts to manipulate based upon race and age. The rest of us, however, might wish to wait until all the facts are out and not salivate quite so demonstrably at the sound of the dinner bell.

Believe whatever you want to believe and spread whatever story that you want to spread.

Me, I'm going to just wait and see how any trials related to this case turn out.

But, OTOH: When you're wrong, you're wrong, eh?

Me, I'm going to wait and see how any trials turn out in this case.

I was referring to your thread title, not guilt or innocence. There is definitely a racial divide, but it is very much part of one side, but not so much on the other.

You're right.

Some people will never learn. Easily manipulated and influenced by manufactured narratives and " witness accounts ".

It guarantees more candidates like Barrack Obama and more riots in places like Ferguson.

Foley was beheaded by ISIS. The reaction from US is tremendous. Michael Brown was shot dead by police. It's still a controvertible case. Because Michael Brown is a black and the killer is a police?

I totally support the idea of innocent until proven guilty at trial for everyone, Black or White, in the USA.

Unfortunately Michael Brown didn't get a trial, he got 6 bullets and he's going under the ground.

That is true, and very sad. We don't know all the circumstances surrounding that tragic event. It is very possible that the officer felt that he had no other choice. It is also very possible that the officer over reacted and committed a crime himself. Again, we don't know. If the officer did in fact have no other choice than to use deadly force, it makes the death of Brown no less tragic. It would, however, make the persecution of the officer less legitimate, much less the prosecution and rush to judgement. One life ha been lost, there is no need to ruin what is left of the other life before we know what really happened.

Meanwhile in Chicago, 7 more shot 21 injured. Where is their rally?

If you go to it you might want to wear full body armor.

That's just the point...It ain't going to happen. And why? Because that is just black's killing other blacks....It does nothing for the narrative that we are just a hopelessly racist country, and need to give up all of our founding principles in order to make it happen...Well, scoff if you must shrub, but Europe is well on its way to being lost to this, I'd like for it not to happen here as well.

`
Anecdotal - Your link was excellent. For nine years I've been working for a black man who emigrated here from Nigeria to set up his own company. His company is now very profitable. He was already college educated and can speak three other languages (aside from English). If his prejudice against American blacks was bad when he first came here, it has gotten worse. He has little or no use for most African Americans and (in his own words) their "you owe me" or "gimme" attitude. He refuses to do business with government entities least he gets confined to their terms and conditions, such as Affirmative Action. He wants to hire the best without being hindered by excessive regulations.

There is an unseen conflict between the new Africans who are moving to the US and the blacks who have lived here for generations. These are diametric clashes of beliefs, values and attitude. I have seen this happen more than a few times.

`

Your Nigerian friend should be nice to the African-Americans. They could be the decendants of his long lost cousins who came here in chains 300 years ago. It's only by the grace of God that he isn't in their shoes.

While this comment does not raise to the level of racist, it sure is prejudicial....it's as if the hand of (a) God had something to do with the abduction of Africans for slaves. I think not.

There should now never be a trial despite any and all findings as the media, the president and his AG have so tainted the story with black prejudice the law officer cannot get the fair trial he deserves.

I think there is plenty of racial divide in the country. The Democrats wouldn't be a party without fueling it.

But yeah, there is a big divide between those protests. One was pushing the rule of law and the other was demanding a human sacrifice in the name of "justice".

There are racial problems in America and some conclusion could be drawn from Ferguson. I'm not sure that the conclusions would be ones that affect white, black relations however. The conclusions deal with a rush to judgement and the black community only seeing one side of the situation without knowledge of the facts surrounding what happened.

When I heard a young unarmed black man was shot by police, I felt sad. When I heard he was shot in the back I felt angry. When I heard that he wasn't shot in the back I was confused. When I heard he had just strong arm robbed a convenience store I felt the shooting may have been justified. When I heard he broke the eye socket of the policeman who shot him I was glad he got shot.

Bottom line, everyone should wait until all the facts come to light before running down to the nearest liquor store, breaking the windows and stealing vodka.

And by the same token, everyone need to wait til all the facts comes out before declaring that this young got what he deserves.

Look I agree with what you said above, however you seem to only afford that to the cop while still demonizing the victim. That whole story regarding the broken eye socket has been debunk. I said it before in other threads. We all need to take a step back and let the true evidence come out then make a judgement call.

Who debunked the broken eye socket story ?

Race relations will never get better until people start honestly listening to the other side. I just read a few comments on this thread and just shook my head. The conclusion that many of you have is that race relations issues are only coming from the blacks because white people are doing no wrong. The media is the sole reason why black people are angry.

If this blindness continues then we will always be divided country.

Sorry, but Blacks are the ONLY people who can fix the issues that are prevalent in places like the South side of Chicago.

No one else can make the inner city culture understand the importance if education or family exept the people that live there.

I die laughing whenever I see nonsensical, racist **** like this. The idea that people who live in the 'inner city' don't understand the importance of education or family is nothing but the wet dream of racists.

Please explain to me how the situation on the south side of Chicago will heal race relations?

I'm a middle class educated black man who never step in chicago faces racism all the time. Please explain to me how race relations between someone like you and me can get better?

Jesse is that you ?

I " die laughing " when I see " willful ignorance " on the scale that you've just demonstrated.

And keep slinging the " racist " BS narrative around.

Its people like you, who cheapen the charge of racism for your own personal agenda that perpetuate the corruption thats led to the creation of inner city culture.
