'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of police re

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

More like "police responded....riot stopped" versus "police didn't respond....riot continued".

Again how did police deal with riots in the days before they had all that surplus army hardware?
They waded in with riot gear and beat the **** out of people. They used hoses and dogs.

As opposed to the most recent intervention where they used first warnings, followed by sound waves, then tear gas, and as a last result rubber bullets. No one was beaten with night sticks. Crowd was effectively dispersed. For all your histrionics over their attire, they were effective, efficient, and fast.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

What's your skin color and gender? I want to make a reference to them every single time I respond to something you post, even when skin color and gender have nothing whatsoever to do with the subject being discussed.

I'm an ambidextrous, bi-sexual Asian with black grandparents and white foster parents, who accidently had me neutered when I was born because the doctor's knife slipped during the circumcision.

Any more dumb-ass questions?

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

Cops don't have M-16's and the "APC" you're talking about is nothing more than an unarmed, armored truck, which purely a defensive piece of equipment.

Let's get real, the cops are firing rubber bullets!
A few politicians have **** themselves over the appearance of tactical attire and the usual suspects rush in to take up the talking points. Its not shocking.

Meanwhile...in the real world...

The presence of those armored vehicles and scary looking police uniforms did nothing but end an illegal protest blocking the streets and for one night prevented looting and rioting. ALSO not shockingly, since so many people have wet themselves over their use of minimal force the night before the police did NOT respond the following night and it ended up being precisely like the three previous nights of violence and looting.

The irony of this latest Liberal stupidity on parade is that the same people that are pissin' their pants are the same people that were all for the BLM showing up looking like an infantry regiment, to collect grazing fees from a 70 year old rancher in the middle of the desert.

No they used tanks and bullets.

So I guess you prefer them facing rioters with just clothes and batons? That's going to go great for the police who are trying to protect store owners..

The store owners should be protecting themselves, preferably with lethal force.

Then, someone--a black person--will get capped and the Libbos will start screaming for banning the private ownership of guns.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

Yes, when people get angry they do foolish and hurtful things. Your point?

My point is your comment about LE and war is nonsense.

How would you want to have LE protect stores, people and personal property from looters and rioters?

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

My advice to the people of Ferguson, Missouri, the NAACP, Al Sharpton, and all the experts calling for Officer Wilson's head.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

The police created this problem, so it all falls on their shoulders.

You must have information that the rest of us don't have.

Shooting an unarmed teen in an area that is know for police violence...thats like poking a hornets nest.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

Well... HE STARTED IT!!!

Yeah that sounds good guys, let's use that as an excuse to pillage our community.

I mentioned that because if there would have been police presence, it would have only escalated the violence.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

The longer the response time, the more damage to life and property the mob will inflict.

So, what about the rights of the law abiding citizens? Have you totally forgotten about that??

No. I assume what would happen is that the police would deal with the issue without acting like an invading army.

If you have stuff you're going to use it. If you don't you'll find ways to deal with it. If the NG is needed the governor can make that decision and be held accountable by the voters.

The NG isn't going to show up with rubber bullets.

Not just attire. Tactics and mindset. If you act like an occupier you shouldn't be surprised when residents get upset.

In all probability the NG isn't going to show up at all, which is the point.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

That's the worst excuse in the world to not deploy the cops, to quell a riot.

So, you're solution to a riot, is to do nothing? That makes even less sense! :lamo

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

I do believe a large percentage of store owners in that neighborhood are "black" and "minority" owned.

First specific to St Louis without the heavy handed police presence there probably wouldn't have been a riot. But that's beside the point.

My issue isn't with police quelling riots. That's part of the job. My issue with police acting like soldiers and treating citizens like the enemy.

The "citizens" are putting others person, and property in danger. That is exactly the proper response to people like this.

Horse****. You want the same antiriot tactics (which were employed 30-40 years ago)...just not in the same gear and equipment. 30-40 years ago, the police would have rather liberally used batons and made arrests. What you fail to recognize (because you are so hell bent on buying into the foolishness and rhetoric) is that the tactical anti-riot measures were effective with minimal contact.

Face facts...you bought into some moronic politicians rhetoric hook line and sinker. You didnt actually bother to 'think'.

There's no excuse for rioting.

Re: 'There are no police': Ferguson store owners guard businesses; cite lack of polic

That would make sense. A lot more sense than handing him that kind of responsibility because he's black.
If only that were true.

Personally, I think this explosion is likely the result of a long-simmering problem:

The Day Ferguson Cops Were Caught in a Bloody Lie - The Daily Beast

I think that if this other incident, coupled with this most recent explosion, are indicative of a pattern of behavior, the protests and riots aren't happening because people are stupid. They're happening because people are fed-up.

Everyone is fed-up. It's not just that community and those people.

The millions who lost their houses and lifelyhoods despite working hard all their lives are fed-up.
The college kids who start their lives with debt that they'll need to get a good job and 10 years to pay off. Basically a mortgage but without a house.
The low-pay workers who are being treated like dirt.
The people who want the govt to smth.
The people who want the govt to do nothing.
The people who want the border protected.
The people who cross the border illegally because they're fed up with what's in their home.

And the list can go on and on. everyone is fed-up. But that gives you grounds to protest, not riot.
