Obama's vacations and golf outings, by the numbers

You do realize that Congress controls the purse strings. A president ( no matter the alphabet letter) can not spend money unless Congress ( no matter the alphabet letter) give them the money to spend.

And hes been given 1 trillion to spend. Thats a cap, not a requirement. He has the power to spend less. He chooses not to.

He just took one to Hawaii in April. Do you get 2-4 vacations a year? Do you get to take a vacation when you have responsibilities at work? Are you as effective at working between golf holes as you are sitting in your office with your coworkers? He can take a break when he EARNS it. If he cant handle the job, lets get someone in there who can.

When you become POTUS, you'll be better able to make such judgements.

What parts do you think he should skimp on and not pay for..... that the congress isn't going to just let run out anyway? (Infrastructure)

Don't worry, your state and local taxes will go up to make up the difference....

Yes, he could then review the spending that various departments do, and start trying to implement some savings.

Do you not think this is being done... and Congress is the one who has to authorize spending, surely they also bear some responsibility for the matter?

Democrats win because they've successfully gotten their constituency hooked on free money. Heroin is a powerful drug.

That's what ravaged Europe and turned it into a sea of government dependency. Greece, Spain, Portugual are just the first to fall. It'll spread like cancer from there.

And the same tactics are infiltrating our nation, too.

Believe whatever you want to believe, it will have zero effect on reality and won't put a GOPer in the White House.

Wait and see.

Of course not.

Government-dependent is not a badge of shame in Europe. It's an expectation. As soon as that is the case here (the demographics are changing rapidly as you say), then it'll be just the same here.

It's called lowering the bar for the lowest common denominator. And there's a rapidly growing lowest common denominator.

The greatness of this country is fading fast.

I see a huge decline in the greatness of the GOP coming up in the not-distant future.

I don't see any similar signs for the USA.

You don't? We're slipping in every category known to man, and you call that progress?

The complete disintegration of the American family, a vastly undereducated youth, a deteriorating work ethic, and a growing dependence on government to wipe our collective asses.

The only thing good about it is it's culling the herd for my kids. There are so many young adults walking the streets with 3rd-grade educations, it's dumbfounding, yet they've got that high school diploma somehow. Most American minorities are falling further and further behind in most every category, despite the fact that the political party they blindly support is winning elections at a record pace.

It's criminal.

And Congress had the power to give him less. They chose not to. The Government spends too much, both parties. To try to put the blame on one man or one party is nothing more then following your Flock Masters of choice. that's one of the biggest problems in this Country, people are blind of the bad in their own chosen flock and think it's all the fault of the other flock.

Is that not the fault of the parents? parents over the last decade or so have let technology raise their kids just so they don't have to. TV, Video games, internet, and so on have become baby sitters. Don't blame the Government for fat, lazy kids, that's all on the parents shoulders.

Bush is way too low on the list to compare him to any U.S. president in the last hundred years.

He's a bottom feeder.

And there you used Bush as a comparison again.

Youre right. I shouldnt have an opinion on our elected officials because Im not one. Lets shut this website down.

Space Exploration, education grants, turtle tunnels. And thats just off the top of my head. I actually PAY someone to come up with such ideas (the President). Dont worry, your taxes will go up instead.

Of course, but the topic is Obama. And he is responsible for day to day expenditures. Congress makes the laws. He implements them.

I didnt put blame soley on him. Im blaming him for HIS part. Maybe you should check the spending forum where I blame everyone in a topic where its appropriate. But THIS topic is about Obama.

True, but you know how they'll vote, and their numbers are becoming too great to overcome by the boot-strappers that used to win American elections.

You should learn not to make an ass out of u and me. I AM cynical of all politicians. Read my posts.

If that were the case, then you'd be griping even more about the Congressional vacations than about the Presidential vacations...especially in view of how many vacations Dubya took, and for how long.

For example? Where did I apply a standard to a Republican President thats different? Quote my post.

Answering my post that Bush took more vacations with a comment that Bush actually got things done - implying that Obama hasn't which is demonstrably false. And which is completely beside the point in any case.

If you didn't mean that as a dodge to avoid criticizing a Republican president for the same behavior you criticize Obama for state so. If you're going to criticize one you need to extend your criticism to all.

That I dont respond to every post on ever topic is not indicative of my lack of opinion. Congress isnt the topic.

Thats applying the same standard (getting things done) to both presidents. If you want to disagree with my assessment, then do so. But instead you want to just call me names (partisan).

As previously stated Obama has "gotten things done" - Obamacare for example - and he certainly has had his share of domestic and foreign problems to deal with.

So how do you conclude he's gotten enough less done than his predecessors to warrant criticism that they escape?

Obama has achieved many things, not as much and not as progressive as some would like..... but hey, if you don't like it, you can always nominate someone and get them elected to do what YOU want next time. ;)

If the GOP came up with some workable plans that they could agree on without all the infighting then explain them to the public in a calm, rational way, they might win.

You gotta admit that they can't even agree on much with themselves. They talk about cutting some of the social programs, that's fine, but they need to explain just how they're gonna cut them and what are we gonna do about the older, sick, and disabled people that need these programs to survive. Same with SS.

Same thing. For those in Congress to castigate Obama for what they themselves do to a significantly greater extent - and for what their boy Dubya did to a MUCH greater extent - is blatant hypocrisy.
