[RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194:238]

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Your comments on psychotropics are certainly appropo.
Once a person is depressed, it never truly leaves their system from my life experience.

In the military, my Dad was started on antabuse and lithium back in the 1950's.
Even today, when our soldiers come home with PTSD, they get the triangle of death as I call it with Effexor, Depakote and Lorazepam.
For Depression, Bi-polar and Anxiety respectively.

As a patient, chemist, life-long alcoholic since I was 12-YOA, life-long al-anon family,
and having current best friends who are in denial over being alcoholics who drive drunk,
this one has hit way too close to home for me.
It's in the same sad category as when I keep losing former students to that damned Heroin epidemic.

I must wake up each morning, being retired is now worse due to no structure, with a planned day of positive and quality structure of events.
Meds must be taken every day at the same time for best results.
As you know, one day away from meds and patients heads are ready to blow apart.

No truer words were ever written as "one day at a time, one hour at a time, one event at a time".
Bless you for being a care-taker .
TD, I have had the misfortune of dealing for 17 years as a primary caretaker for my sister who suffered from severe bipolar disorder, a symptom of her more serious Huntington's Chorea. I promise you, that many suicides with folks that suffer from this bipolar are not directly drug related. Yes, their medications are drugs per se, and the imbalance of those meds will lead to "stinking thinking" that may well result in suicide attempts (I went through several with my sister), but it's not drug addiction.

I'm not ruling this out of course, that's what the coroner will do. But if I was a betting man, I'm betting on his illness.

(Clearly you did not) Show me where it says his death was drug related?

Did you note what I quoted?

No Robin Williams was a genius in his field. An incredible giving human being with faults.

Ok, and he killed himself. Want to follow his lead?

Dude, show me where it says he died from drugs? Don't beat around the bush.

Did you note what I quoted, or not?

If you haven't seen it, his movie "What Dreams May Come" from 1998 has many connections to him dying today. Maybe that was too strong, but it is a good watch about him dying and saving his wife from hell.

Hi Mason, if one is familiar with his comedy routines, it is obvious that he was always drawing from the demons in his own life that haunted him through his career at least in the early days. Williams was someone that always made me laugh. Sometimes that was just at nothing but at times would bring one to have to laugh at ourselves. Regardless what the investigation reveals that led to his suicide, the saddest thing of all is the demons that haunted him whether it be depression or whatever, won the battle. I know I personally will miss him.

Do yourself a favor, read up on mental illness. Clearly you haven't clue one about it.

Oh, I know something about it. Why is RW any more important than the other hundred people that died of it today?

You would not have said what you did if you knew anything about mental illness. You're embarrassing yourself.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Williams was one hell of an entertainer. He had the ability make almost anyone laugh. His talent stretched across the spectrum from comedy to serious roles that were believable. Someone that gave so much to all of us deserves the decency and respect to at least wait for facts before making unfounded accusations or assumptions in my opinion. Don't like my opinion? Oh well......

I too am stunned by the number of people wanting to imply they "know" it was drugs. I suppose it could still be asphyxiation if he choked on vomit after OD'ing, but usually that is still considered an OD, not asphyxiation. So though I gather the suicide is not in question, I still think he doesn't need to be painted with a return to drugs as the reason unless or until we have some valid ME statement to that.

I will say this. Robin Williams was my absolute favorite comedian. I was very sad when I heard this, today.

I will try to comment more, professionally, later.
