[RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194:238]

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Even though he wasn't my cup of tea its still tragic when someone takes their own life. Alot of times no one can see this coming. My chiropractor who was the most upbeat happy go lucky guy you could ever meet took his own life. Ive known his now widowed wife from childhood and one day we received a call that Eric had been missing for a couple days, then later that evening we got the call that the police had found him in his car. He had shot himself in the head. So sad and tragic, the guy seemingly had everything to live for. He left behind a beautiful wife and twin 8yr old boys. If only we had known of the demons he was battling maybe someone could have helped, very sad indeed.

So sad. Rest easy. You will be missed.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

I hope he didn't go out like David Carradine - auto-asphyxiated and dressed in women's lingerie.

I too am stunned by the number of people wanting to imply they "know" it was drugs. I suppose it could still be asphyxiation if he choked on vomit after OD'ing, but usually that is still considered an OD, not asphyxiation. So though I gather the suicide is not in question, I still think he doesn't need to be painted with a return to drugs as the reason unless or until we have some valid ME statement to that.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Oh no! Not Robin Williams!

So, so, sad! :(

It is double sad that the man who did so much for us to feel better about our lives would suffer himself from bipolarity. This to the degree to cause him to follow the suicidal route just like other comedy giants such as: John Bellushi, Andy Kaufman, etc!

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Totally devastated... the best comedian ever in my opinion. He will be missed.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Personally, I'm not interested in why the man took his own life - there's too much digging into the private lives of people, famous or not, and it serves no purpose other than to spread ill informed gossip and an attempt to lessen the person's value to those who cared about his life.

Personally, I'm sad to see another contemporary of mine have their life end - growing older often sucks - I'd like to celebrate the man's life and the manic joy he brought to the occasion whenever he was officially, or unofficially, entertaining us.

RIP good sir and may your family and many friends find comfort in having had the privilege to share time with you along your journey.

Sad that one of the Kings of Funny, couldn't keep a smile on his own face. I wish I could say that was surprising but it isn't really. That level of creativity rarely comes from a person with everything going right.

RIP Robin Williams.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Very very sad. Williams was easily the greatest humorist of the past fifty years. And his dramatic acting was excellent. I recently watched him again in GOOD WILL HUNTING and thought he owned that role as he was that perfect in it.

I remember a segment on Carson where he and Jonathon Winters fed off each other and Johnny just surrendered laughing with everybody else trying to keep up but being a mile behind.

Stephen Spielberg relates how when he was making SCHLINDER'S LIST in Poland, he would get depressed and call RW at night and WIlliams would do comedy for him helping Spielberg to deal with the demons of making that film.

He will be missed.

(Clearly you did not) Show me where it says his death was drug related?

It wasn't as far as we know; that said, he had his addiction demons.

Can we knock off the sniping?

Classy as always.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

He was an amazing actor and one of my absolute favorites :(

He is going to be missed. His frantic and childlike comedy was fairly unique and not easily replaced.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

I was devastated when I saw the news online today. He always seemed so real, so flawed, so human.

Dead Poet Society
The World According To Garp

Damn....I found his manic-insanity at times to be extremely annoying, but overall his body of work over the decades has been extraordinary.

RIP Mr. Williams.

Tim-

30 years of top billing says otherwise. Not many people climb that mountain and stay there--fewer than a 100.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Norm McDonald had probably the best memorial for Robin Williams on his twitter feed.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Socrates serenely and willingly drank the fatal cup of hemlock. Death, he told his friends, might be annihilation, in which case it is like a long, dreamless slumber; or it might be a migration of the soul from one place to another. Either way it is not to be feared.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

This is so sad! Robin was one of my favorite actors and I loved so many of his movies. Mrs. Doubtfire, The Birdcage, Jumanji, Jack, Alladin, Dead Poets Society, Patch Adams, Hook - so many of my favorite movies because of him. What a loss. :(

My thoughts are with his friends and family.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Not bad? He was nothing short of brilliant in Good Will Hunting and Good Morning Vietnam.

Tell me this isn't genius?

I was referring to Clooney. Robin Williams was a excellent actor.

Re: Robin Williams committed suicude.

Bring on the clowns.

RIP Robin Williams. You will always be remembered.

Re: [RIP]Robin Williams Dead at 63 [W:194]

Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci".
