Not exactly sure. They gave him a CAT scan and saw nothing. Then they did an MRI and saw nothing. They were wondering if he even had a stroke. Then they did an MRI with contrast, and saw 2 small ones. Does that determine the effects of the stroke? I guess logically it would, huh? I want to read that book that was mentioned earlier, too. I'd like to be able to get my head around this. We were fortunate. We were shopping in Target, and he got really pissed off about something stupid, and his left leg was hurting very badly. He tromped off to go sit in the car, and I was like, "Well **** ya, then. Go your ass to the car." We finished up and left a couple minutes later, and he asked me to drive. Said his leg was hurting really badly. We drove about 15 minutes, and he said, "Honey, I don't feel well." We were passing by the exit where the hospital is, and I asked him if he wanted to stop by the ER and get checked out. When he said "yes," I knew something was wrong. He won't go to the doctor unless he is seriously worried. Within 5 minutes, were in the ER, and they kept him for days. Scary, scary time.

Yes, for the most part, the area of the brain where the incident occurs, determines the effects. Frontal lobe and temporal lobe areas seem to have personality effects. There are differences in right and left hemisphere effects as well. I hope he gets better soon, hon. It's hard to deal with strokes.

(and my husband was the same way. Would NOT go to a doctor unless it was really really serious, which is one of the reasons he isn't around today).

Well, let me rephrase that - he goes to the doctor. When we first got together a million years ago, he hadn't been to a doctor in years. We got together in 1996. He had had a heart attack in 1984. He hadn't seen a cardiologist since his heart attack. I changed that really quickly. Now he goes regularly, sees all his specialists regularly, takes his medication religiously. I guess I should have said, "He won't go to an ER unless he feels that it's really an emergency." But I am fortunate, because he does see his doctors regularly, and I think it's extended his life by many, many years.

That's not a work around. That's a brain reach around.

    Have y'all noticed that?
I don't have a lot of experience with stroke victims. But the one guy I know got over his rather quickly and doesn't seem to have any side effects other than a pretty bad fear of it happening again.

You know, they say whiskey was God's way of keeping the Irish from ruling the world! Guess I'm a 99%er... ethnically speaking...

I had the privilege and honor of spending a day at the beach with Mr. Williams & a few friends in the mid 90's. He was very humble and almost shy, which surprised me. But he let us teeny-boppers stay on set, accompany to the make-up artist, etc. He would blush at a compliment. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet him, and I'm so glad I did. I will remember that day fondly for the rest of my life.

The world is a little less bright now without him.

    RIP Mr. Williams.
