White students to no longer be majority at school[W:62]

Which Canute?

Fill us in.

Are you talking about CNut the Great or one of the less prominent Canutes?

There have been a lot of Canutes on this planet.

Referring to the Canute who commanded the tide to stop coming in, just to show he couldn't stop it. Your quote,
"No one can stop time, and/or change." brought the old Great Dane to mind.

Interesting, very interesting.

When someone in the the GOP says stop and the massive demographic change that's coming at the GOP like a tidal wave comes to a screeching halt, that's the one that I'd like to see.

But I'm betting that ain't going to happen.

Wait and see.

There's a point at which assimilation is good and a point at which their culture becomes part of ours. For example, if all the Italians that came decided that they were going to eat like Americans now, we wouldn't have pizza.

The kind of assimilation where they stop speaking their native language takes a couple of generations. The Polish immigrants used to have this idea in their heads that someday they'd all go back to Poland. Two or three generations down the line, they aren't.

Assimilation to them means going to the right church, drinking the right beer and eating the right food, getting a fat gut while watching American Football, preferably with a lean toward the Right and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys while voting Republican. ;)

Not true

Did you miss the word "most" in my post, I never said "all" did I? You'll also note that the majority are in the southwestern states, with a few exceptions, even by that map, as I said. Besides, I think that map is slightly off anyways. Idaho only has 19,000 illegal immigrants. If that makes up 2% of 12 million then some thing is off.

Thanks for proving me right. ;)

What's with Florida? Are the illegals there from Alabama?

Nevada must be where Arizona and California ship them.

Just another sign that the "open borders" quasi policy is on a path to overburden our systems...What say you?

i guess it's time to consider white people as a minority.

white people will be the majority race in schools and in this country for a long time to come.

It all epends on the school systems where white kids go to school, always has.
Hence, the "vouchers" by the GOP and their "charter" schools as a way for whites to get away from "non-whites".

Not to mention rich "white" suburbs.
Especially to mention parochial schools which are still mostly all white with a move afoot to defer their tuition as tax credit.

My life is much richer for teaching "all" kids and not just the country club elite rich white snootty, snotty kids .

This is the claim by the liberal left, and such has been outed as spin many times over, so one wonders why it is continually used....

"The administration is "playing a double game," argued Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, which favors tighter immigration restrictions. "They're telling (pro-immigration) advocacy groups that they're focusing on the worst of the worst" by committing more resources to the most dangerous undocumented immigrants.

"But they're telling the broader public they've achieved record levels of deportations.

It's a clever spin."

So what are the facts? Nearly 400,000 individuals were removed from the country in fiscal year 2011, which ended September 30, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. ICE Director John Morton trumpeted the news, calling it the result of "smart and effective immigration enforcement" that depends on "setting clear priorities for removal and executing on those priorities."

The 396,906 figure is indeed a record -- but not by much. A total of 392,862 people were deported in 2010 -- a difference of little more than 1%, according to ICE. Almost 390,000 people were deported the year before that.
Significantly larger increases in the total number of deportations occurred during George W. Bush's administration. Fewer than 120,000 people were deported in 2001, when Bush took office.

Analysts say much of the change over the last decade has been due to the implementation of controversial federal-led measures such as Secure Communities initiative and the Criminal Alien Program, which are designed to root out undocumented immigrants accused or convicted of various criminal acts. Both measures predate Obama's presidency."

Still trying to push the lie that the number of hispanics in school that has you so terrified is about illegal immigration?

WRONG.

According to the Pew Research Center by 2050 non-Hispanic Whites will be a minority (47%) compared to all other racial and ethnic groups.

Believe whatever you want to believe.

Me, I believe that in about 30-years massive demographic change is going to hit the GOP like a tidal wave and the GOP, if it survives at all, will be reduced to a minor, regional party.

Wait and see.

Uhm, you think there are 12 million people in Idaho? ROFLMAO! And you claim I'm Idaho ignorant. Idaho has just over 1.5 million in the entire state.

 Reading comprehension. Learn it.

Perhaps you should learn sentence structure so those things being referenced are clear. If you're not talking about Idaho population, then which population are you claiming is 12million?

Some people around here even argue with facts . :lamo

Good afternoon NIMBY

Not to nit-pick, but do you think that map might have changed a bit since 2008? That is, after all, almost 6 years out of date.

Personally, the ethnic/racial/cultural make-up of a school population is pretty irrelevant if the language and socio-economic factors are within the norms. If, however, a large segment of a school's population requires extensive or increased English as a second language classes/programs and teachers are required to moderate lesson plans and course study to match a classroom population's learning readiness, then those ethnic/racial/cultural impacts may be significant as it relates to resources redirected and outcomes missed.

Facts, learn them.

Immigrants and their children are growing shares of Idaho’s population and electorate.

The foreign-born share of Idaho’s population rose from 2.9% in 1990, to 5.0% in 2000, to 6% in 2011, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Idaho was home to 95,386 immigrants in 2011.
32.5% of immigrants (or 31,019 people) in Idaho were naturalized U.S. citizens in 2011—meaning that they are eligible to vote.
Unauthorized immigrants comprised roughly 2.2% of the state’s population (or 35,000 people) in 2010, according to a report by the Pew Hispanic Center.
4.2% (or 30,347) of registered voters in Idaho were “New Americans”—naturalized citizens or the U.S.-born children of immigrants who were raised during the current era of immigration from Latin America and Asia which began in 1965—according to an analysis of 2008 Census Bureau data by Rob Paral & Associates.

Yeah, it makes one wonder how "Common Core" will be handled and judged in the future!

Yeah, you sound like you would have been quite a fair-minded teacher.

Good afternoon Lady P - been a beautiful weekend here so far - hope yours has been just as nice.

Learn the difference between illegal immigrants and legal immigrants.

I do admit to the fact that I may have been wrong as to the graph though. Since we were talking about illegal immigration I assumed that he would post a relevant graph talking about illegal immigration. He apparently did not do such but instead posted a graph of legal immigration. I guess that accounts for the 2 some odd percent figure.

My bad for assuming that someone would be honest in their posting I guess.

:thanks: Going to a birthday party/cookout for youngest granddaughter later. Fortunately it's not raining again, so that's a plus! Beautiful weekend all around!
