Re: American Forces Said to Bomb ISIS Targets in Iraq

From my perspective, this is somewhat confusing and another situation where US foreign policy at this point in time seems to be a jumble of incongruent reactionary steps without a big picture goal in mind.

How is it rational to provide military assistance to a nation, Iraq, that you have no treaty obligations to and who refused reasonable attempts to have your troops remain in country when they were already there and providing a level of deterrent/protection, and yet another country, Ukraine, with whom you actually have a treaty obligation to provide protection to, does not receive American military support?

Ultimately I blame the Iraqis and not Bush or Obama, but if we are going to be fair, he did play a part in it.

That ISIS group is out of control and I believe we have shown enough restraint in Syria and the ME. If we don't make a decisive military move now, we'll have a much harder time later rooting them out and they will eventually advance on southern Iraq and possibly Jordan. We need to bring the "Boom, Shack-aLacka Lacka, Boom!"

Those are not comparable situations. Hundreds of thousands of people aren't about to be killed in a genocide. Screw Maliki, he's the a-hole that started this whole mess, persecuting the Sunni's. The only big picture we need at the moment is to hit those vicious ISIS forces, until they're back to throwing stones. They're going to eventually become a bigger instigator of war crimes than Iran, AQ and the Taliban combined.

The Iraqis wanted us out while Al-Maliki a ****e was paling around with Iran. What part of that don't you people get?

My nephew who was wounded twice in Iraq said there wasn't a day he didn't hear, "We want you the invaders out!"

**** attempted to spell out Maliki's tribal affilation. Sensor won't allow it as it too closely resembles a four letter word.

They're comparable as it relates to principle and big-picture policy. What real benefit does America gain by being drawn back into a ME war zone? Perhaps, if Maliki had been removed/replaced and the call had come from new "management", there might be a point - without that, there is no benefit to the US.

If a situation's dynamics change, then so do the principles of big picture policies. If America allows the ME to become much destabilized from ISIS, it could cause a multinational conflict in the area that disrupts the oil flow and resulting markets. And at worse, draw Russia into the area with more armed support leading to a US showdown.
