The sooner we're out of there the better. I have no idea why we're still there.

American imperialism? What was the last country we conquered, looted, and pillaged? (Yes, I know I will get a bunch of liberals answering Iraq and Afghanistan, but I'm looking for an honest answer) Personally I blame nation building. If your attacked then you cripple your opponent and stay out of their country.

    Done witcha.
So you didn't know it was a military school or you went for an emotional reaction...which was it? Deflect away.

He should have left there in 2009.

As to the racist thing.... not all, but far too many.

Obama hasn't pulled out of Afganistan. Clearly, he's a raging war hawk determined to get us into further conflicts around the world.

It's really tough to be a liberal peacenik warhawk determined to pull out our troops and continue wars indefinitely.
I think your statement misses the overarching theme of what, IMO, is Pres Obama's intent. This, like every issue with him, is about politics. I believe Pres Obama continued with W's timeline with Iraq (which btw no one remembers it being his) and doubled down on Afghanistan because he was bent on portraying a sharp contrast to Pres Bush. Bush essentially forgot about Afghanistan and went all in on Iraq. Pres Obama did the opposite. Pres Obama did what he always does. He tried to play the middle of the road on the wrong road. IMO, the correct course of action would have been to pull out of Iraq as scheduled followed by an immediate announcement of a draw down Afghanistan with a date set for late 2010. I believe that would have given him something to hang his hat on as far as a legacy goes.

We have several 100k highly trained professional volunteers to take care of what needs to be taken care of.

If we had left about 20K in Iraq then ISIS would not have taken over about half the country. If we keep about 20k in Afghanistan then Taliban is not going to regain power.

If I was in power here you would be over there, now, in Afghanistan, doing the kind of work you supposedly volunteered for.

You do know that the the 9/11 plot was hatched and planned by Muslim radicals based in Afghanistan and hosted by the Taliban government, don't you? Or were you too busy keeping up with your homework to pay attention to the news back then? (Haha- homework? you?)

The short, sweet and simple point to staying in Afghanistan is above all else to avoid giving the place back to the same nightcreatures who had attacked us, and who we removed from power in 2001.
Homework? lol. I was a Corporal in 2001 sonny having already deployed once to Montenegro to capture Milosevic. Where were you? Do you even know who that is? If not, Im sure you'll Wikipedia it and claim you do.

I knew when I joined I would have to protect the ability of loud mouths like you to say stupid things such as "If I were in charge you'd be over there right now". Despite what neo-cons like you believe, our nation wasn't established to spread freedom. It was established to provide it to it's own citizens. What freedoms of yours have I protected by deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq 5 times? The 2001 Afghanistan invasion and subsequent operations involving SF and and Marine Expeditionary Unit were well orchestrated. After that people such as yourself put their nose in it and it turned into a farce. You need read a book or two and figure out the difference between defense (WW2 Pacific campaign) and offense (Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, etc).

My personal opinion is the Taliban was never our target and once al-Queera slipped away we should have packed up and left... back in 2003. Once BushII put national prestige behind recreating a tribal society into a modern western one without much in the way of meaningful action our nation was stuck with trying to cover the dumb ass check BushII wrote....

Agreed, every issue with him is about politics.

But, had he done as you suggest, then the Republicans would be lambasting him for having pulled out too soon and abandoned the war on terror.

Come to think of it, they're accusing him of that anyway, so what would it matter?
