GOP blocks bill that would curb tax breaks for firms moving operations overseas

Already posted.

try to keep up with the discussion

You certainly have a different definition of tax reduction

The bill would have cost U.S. companies that move overseas $143 million in additional taxes over the next decade, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation, which analyzes tax legislation for Congress.

Allow people and businesses keep more of what they earn thus they won't have to move anywhere. TX has learned to do that, why can't Washington? S?ince when is it the role of the govt. to create equal outcome

Those corporations also depend upon the infrastructure we provide - roads, education, dependable power grids, security worldwide...do you think such infrastructure should be free to corporations?

Those items are paid for out the use taxes collected from the people. You really need to learn what taxes people actually pay and what those taxes are for. Elizabeth Warren loves having low information voters supporting her.

Why do you ask about "free"? Who said anything about "free"?

If you're so precious about the use of infrastructure, maybe you should be happy to help corporations move out so they won't use so much of it.

You do realize this bill that you seem to support also gave tax breaks for expenses involved in moving a facility to the US from overseas, right? You gotta hate that, don't you?

Ah, careful editing strikes again:

Companies moving into the U.S. would have seen their tax bills drop by $357 million over the same period.

GOP Blocks Tax Hike on Firms Moving Overseas - ABC News

Thought we were talking about U.S. Companies moving out of this country. Amazing how the same people like you continue to spout the same rhetoric over and over again, ignoring content and substance. How about using some more four letter words in describing me

An appeal to "race to the bottom", we should lower our taxes and enviro regs to the lowest level.

Brilliant!

Of course, Texas does not offer tax incentives to companies to attract them to Texas...nope.

I thought we were discussing the entire bill.

I'm using them, I'll let you imagine them.

Look in my eye...

Texas has a growing population, growing economy, low cost of living and is doing quite well. Too bad arrogant liberals don't steal the Texas principles for those blue states they run. I have no problem with tax incentives and anything that reduces the money going to Washington is a good thing. Less power at the central level and that really pisses people like you off, doesn't it?

I thought we were discussing the entire bill.I'm using them, I'll let you imagine them.

Ask yourself, why does Obama support the bill? Did you even bother to read the net tax affect of this bill? that is why Obama supports it, punish business and generate more tax revenue. We all know you support a 3.9 TRILLION dollar govt. The question is why? You cannot seem to get what you want done through your state therefore you want to spread the liberal misery equally to everyone else.

Those items are paid for out the use taxes collected from the people. You really need to learn what taxes people actually pay and what those taxes are for. Elizabeth Warren loves having low information voters supporting her.

So only individual citizens should pay taxes? The corporations don't use and benefit from those roads, the education, the national security?

How about you prove that last statement? The Dems are the ones who want to end that set of tax breaks...and it's the GOP that wants to extend them.

So only individual citizens should pay taxes? The corporations don't use and benefit from those roads, the education, the national security?

Show me a corporation driving on those roads and using the infrastructure? Show me a corporation in line at the grocery store? Corporations are run by people and it is the people that use that infrastructure so why tax a corporation who passes those taxes on to the people?

Is this coming from the same guy who says that govt should not pick winners and losers?

Where the hell does the money come from that the govt. spends? Seems that choice only matters to people like why when it comes to murdering the unborn not when it relates to where you spend your money. You don't like a certain corporation don't buy from them and get enough to do the same and they go out of business. The govt. however keeps spending money to buy your support.

Ask yourself, why does Obama support the bill?
To increase US jobs
Did you even bother to read the net tax affect of this bill?
It has a net INCREASE in debt, ie, less revenue....which is what you want.
that is why Obama supports it, punish business and generate more tax revenue.
Wrong:

The difference — $214 million — would have been added to the budget deficit.

We all know you support a 3.9 TRILLION dollar govt.
you do too, by paying taxes....duh.

The question is why?
Seriously? Again, you can leave, no one forces you to stay....ultimately.

You cannot seem to get what you want done through your state therefore you want to spread the liberal misery equally to everyone else.
My state, Arizona, is a conservative nightmare, thank you very much.

Obama has done nothing to increase jobs, only to outsource them, you really are out of touch with reality. Only this month did we achieve the employment number from December 2007 and most of that is part time employment, 7.5 million. Increasing taxes on businesses does not increase jobs.

you do too, by paying taxes....duh.

Yes, I probably pay more in taxes each year than you make. As for your state being a nightmare, maybe "your" president ought to defend the borders.

So just to be clear....you ARE the guy that argues that govt should not pick winners and losers....correct?

Unlike you I understand that when someone makes money it creates incentive for others to do the same thing. How do I support the govt. picking winners and losers? Looks like the people are doing that quite well for themselves. You choose to support Obama and that makes you a loser. I support free enterprise and capitalism which has created a very good life for me and my family, that makes me a winner.

Other than the GOP having their lips firmly wrapped around the cocks of businesses? It's possible that there are other things in the bill other than tax hikes on traitorous companies.

Money, like water, flows where it flows for very sound and very predictable reasons.

If it's flowing out of instead of into the country, there are very sound and predictable reasons why this is happening.

If there is a desire to have it flow to here instead of there, create the reasons for it to do so.

This is not very difficult to figure out.

Obama has done nothing ...
Wait, you asked WHY there is support for this bill. You are not addressing the response.

Yes, I probably pay more in taxes each year than you make.
Ergo, you support this govt.....duh.
As for your state being a nightmare, maybe "your" president ought to defend the borders.
Let see....Texas has more illegals...yet is doing well.....ergo...illegals are not the problem.

If we just had large petro deposits....gee wiz.

Sides haves facts. Maybe there is no other side of the story. Did you click on the link? It didn't contain the entire text of the bill.

The ideas from the article said that the Democrats want to punish business for moving abroad.

We know from the past that they want to punish business for staying here, hiring employees, selling goods, making profits or just existing.

Nothing new here. Move along.

How do I support the govt. picking winners and losers?
You just said you had no problem with tax incentives, ie, picking winners and losers....but previously you argued govt should NOT pick winners and losers.....ergo, you are contradicting yourself.

Wait, you asked WHY there is support for this bill. You are not addressing the response.

Arizona has 6 million people and TX has 27 million, TX is more than double the size of Arizona and that is what you want to ignore. Your problems are indeed the results of illegals, there is more room here and much of the growth is well away from the border.

You really must be in that 40% who still supports Obama in spite of the economic results.
