Re: IRS Retired Lerner calls conservatives "a**holes" and "crazies" in emails from IR
Pretty stupid to send that from a .gov email. Pretty stupid to send that from a work email either. When I worked at the VA I was very careful how I worded emails about patients/work or whatever. I also never gave our my email to anyone. All it takes is one forwarded message.... ans BOOM fired.
However just because she works for the IRS doesn't mean she can't have opinions. I am not defending her emails or language BTW.
That'd be correct. She can have her opinions. However, her opinions shouldn't bias, distort, make inconsistent, or otherwise have detrimental impact on her work while representing the IRS and serving the electorate of this nation.
Clearly, that's not the case here.
If she can't manage to keep the two separated, I'm sure there are other, less powerful and less impactful on the electorate and less sensitive to unfairness departments in the federal government that she'd be more than welcomed at.
Frankly, if any of this sort crap comes up again, it should be handled internally, quickly, with work suspension, pending a brief investigation of no more than 1-2 weeks, and dismissal if deemed appropriate by the immediate superior, without back pay, without benefits, without pension.
Should it come up with the same person a second time, both the previously reviewing superior and the subordinate charged are dismissed, without back pay, without benefits, without pension.
Period. No exceptions.
There is no excuse for this abuse of government power, especially at the IRS, and no excuses should be accepted. Everyone working for the IRS should know that they are working in one of the governments departments that has the greatest and most immediate impact on the electorate, and can't afford even the slightest hint of impropriety, unfairness, or bias for or against any race, color, or creed, or political affiliations. All the IRS does is money. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just money and only money.
