Louisiana Republican Flees Interview When Asked About Obama's Birthplace

A Republican congressional candidate fled her interview with a major election-forecasting group after being asked why she believed that global warming was a hoax and whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States, according to a new report in the Washington Post.

This lady was obviously not well prepared for this interview.

Kind of reminds me of Sarah Palin.

Any thoughts?

Were she to be candidate for VP, it would make it impossible to vote for her running mate, which could be very sad, indeed.

It will be interesting to see how far she gets with her try for congress.

I'm not counting her out, yet.

I'm going to wait and see how many more interviews she flubs and bails on.

Maybe Journalists shouldn't be mocking people/potential candidates and start asking serious questions.....

I would have probably walked out too, not before saying; "It doesn't matter where he was born considering his mother was a US citizen."

All to frequently these progressive Journalists love to do noting but mock the non-democrat/progressive candidates in an intimidating manner, while when they interview progressives they give them nothing but "fluff questions" with a laughingly content smile.

Asking why she believed that global warming is a hoax and whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States ARE serious questions. As Voltaire said, "those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." The voters have a right to know how someone comes to such wacky conclusions.

Bypassing the bevy of progressive pivot-men to this circle jerk of a thread, how many progressive candidates did this same 'reporter' ask the same question to?

how many of them have publicly questioned the President's birthplace this?

And she's not the only birther - we also have them in Tennessee. I know because I made a point of voting in the GOP primary to hopefully unseat one who's a current State Rep. just this week. Get your own grip.

People such as yourself that turn politics into a team sport--I just don't get it. Are you really so concerned about a political candidate in another state that anyone who wears your colors you are for and anyone who wears the opponents colors you are against? Morons of all stripes get elected to Congress, you seem to just want to make sure that all of them are your morons.

I was making a general comment about birthers. If you don't agree, that's great. But spare me the holier than thou crap. I'm not impressed.

This is what you get with the tea party, very stupid people who get their news from community college dropouts like Limbaugh, and Hannity.

DERP

We're still waiting for Guam to " tip over ".

Now THAT'S Stupid and THAT'S the Democrat party.

What precisely is wrong with voting in a primary to unseat a representative that you fundamentally disagree with? It sounds like you are objecting to someone exercising their right to vote.

That's ok, I'm not interested in your general comment.

Neither party has a monopoly on stupid. The difference is that when that Democratic House Member made that stupid statement other Democrats were embarrassed. Republicans, on the other hand, put their Palins right out front for all to see, relish in their ignorance and are unpersuaded by facts.

Kinda lame that you needed to defend your party with that story.

It's the liberals!

Even if that is true :)lol:) the best thing to counter someone who is trying to jump and destroy you is to give an answer that sounds smart, if not entirely true, then turn it around so they look foolish. I see it here daily. ;)

Why waste your time if it was not a serious interview?

I hope the birther stuff comes back in full force.

Seeing as how it was invented by the Clinton campaign in 2008, it can only serve to bite her in the ass in 2016.

You describe what's wrong with our political process, focus is on power, not truth and answers to our leading problems.

But it is reality nonetheless.

There was a time, early on, when some doubt was (arguably) a rational or at least non-insane position. But really, after six years, there is a pile of evidence he was in fact born in Hawaii, and NOTHING to indicate otherwise. Furthermore, all the claims of the original birthers have been thoroughly debunked, time and again, often laughably so and so there is just nothing left to debate, unless there is a vast conspiracy across the entire State of Hawaii government, the U.S. government, including the passport office, CIA, FBI, etc.

Anyway, I'm biased, but the birther line is to me a line that in 2014 can't be crossed by serious people who want to serve in a serious office. In my view, it reflects a basic contempt for facts and/or a willingness to take a position contrary to ALL KNOWN FACTS, and that disqualifies someone as an elected official in my view.

Well, he's a shameless, self promoting huckster, which is fine.

Then this begs the question, when did this woman question Obamas birthplace.

Then this begs the question, when did this woman question Obamas birthplace.

She effectively did it in that interview. It's a simple question with a simple answer - Hawaii - unless you're a birther or pander to them.

The problems are polls like these:

55% Of Republicans Believe Obama Was Born In A Foreign Country?
Poll: 45 percent of Republicans think Obama born out of US | TheHill
https://today.yougov.com/news/2014/02/12/know-for-sure/

At least half the GOP either believes Obama was born outside the U.S. or at least aren't sure. So a candidate has a problem - half their voters are birthers or near birthers, and they can either accept ALL THE EVIDENCE or pander to the ignorant and tin hatters. And so it's perhaps a rational political position to take, but it's still a position contrary to all known evidence.

It's kind of funny how the GOP has gotten themselves into a box on this. They propagate this BS for years, and the GOP base starts believing the propaganda. But almost all non-GOPers think the birther position is insane, so what a GOPer running for office hopes is for the issue to go away. They don't want to alienate the half of the GOP who is a birther so can't say he WAS born in the U.S, but they also don't want to signal they're nuts to independents and sane republicans and can't embrace the full wingnut birther position. So they have to walk this hilarious tightrope. And then of course whine about the liberal press when they get called out on this strategy or the liberal press doesn't allow them to pander to ignorant without consequences. So sad for them.

Oh but it doesn't stop at Hank Johnson's idiocy.

Sheila Jackson Lee's known for her stupidity.

" We have two Viet' NAM'S, side by side, working together, exchanging ideas ..."

So No, there is no " embarrassment " from the Democrats at all.

So you're whole defense of This woman saying stupid **** is "But But the other side does it". Pathetic defense.

You left out the part where he argues "the media doesn't report when the libs do it, and I can prove it by mentioning examples that the media reported"

While people come in flavor stupid and reduced-stupid and also are members of both parties, it is the Republicans that don't want to learn from their mistakes. For the past six years Republicans have been telling us about inflation, high interest rates and currency devaluation due to Obama policies -- none of which materialized. Usually, when someone is this wrong they admit it and re-think their view. Not with Republicans.

To further what I wrote above, Pew did a poll in 2009 and the party divide is wide.
