Raven ray Rice suspended 2 games

I have already stated my case.

You don't agree - fine.

I doubt either of us is going to change the other's mind.

What is the point in going on and on about it?

I am done on this for now.

Good day.

I dont agree because I'm more looking at the interests of the business, etc. Not people that clearly act in very negative ways and will be possibly protected by the law but not other consequences (which they may deserve).

I dont think we're that far apart, but to me, the slippery slope..if it occured... would end up harming the league even more.....I think it's better for society when individuals/private parties are able to make individual decisions and choices rather being dictated to by law or policy. (As long as it is not discriminatory) Following guidelines and policies yes, dictated by? No. IMO the opposite slope leads to 'zero tolerance' policies which I am against.

For the $$$. See how long that marriage lasts after he gets booted from the NFL.

Oh, it's not just the money--it's the celebrity and the glam too. She needs therapy. (Of course, I said this about Hillary Clinton too after the Lewinsky humiliation.) For some people, the money or the power or the security is that important.

But this man has the self-control of a toddler. He knocked this woman out...could have killed her. He didn't even seem to much care that she was unconscious and exposed. I can't imagine how he acts at home, and now that I've seen how he treats his woman, I hope he doesn't have any pets.

Fair enough. My main argument in this thread is that the culture of "never hitting a woman" is short sighted and does more harm than good. I'm convinced that women are getting more aggressive and if men continue to do nothing but take it or restrain women that are getting aggressive the situation will only get worse. There is nothing wrong with defending yourself, and all this calculation people expect people to do is not at all realistic. Whatever though, I'm tired of this thread now.

And none of that is relevant in the recent video.

Unless, of course, you support beating women.

Would we even be having this discussion if she was a man?

I get what you're saying about defending yourself, and I also believe that a woman should keep her hands to herself also. However I wonder who you are trying to convince that what he did went beyond self defense?

Put a penis on it and call it male. Does it change the situation? If so, why?

We are not talking about men, but women.

Sounds as if you want to throw out gender if any altercation occurs, and support full on fisticuffs.

So if a woman slaps you, do you agree with responding immediately with closed fist blows?

I am the living man.

I refer to them as 'Mountain Bums'. They're beyond the law of man. They can do whatever they want.

I am shocked they didn't throw his ass in the clink.

Can't touch a Mountain Bum. It's against natural law. It was a small fine for fishing without a license, not a criminal case.

Dear Mrs. Rice,

We regret to inform you that due recent information that has come to our attention, Mr. Ray Rice will be departing the Baltimore Ravens to spend more time with his family. We sure hope you married for love, we shall see.

Baltimore Ravens.

P.S.

That's not fair to her. Maybe she is a gold digger, not saying she is or isn't, but domestic violence is very serious. Maybe he threatened her if she didn't marry him or to not report the abuse, we have no idea about their relationship and to blow her off like that is perhaps ignoring a terrible situation she may be in.

Exactly, or he could have threatened to harm one of her family members if she didn't do exactly what he wanted. I shudder to think how Rice treated her before he was actually caught on tape. My guess; he probably thought he couldn't be taped if he hit her in an elevator.

Didn't say anything like that, and it has nothing to do with being in it for the money, but the NFL has made it very advantageous for women to keep quiet about domestic abuse.

This is very different than if you report your accountant husband for spousal abuse. Sure, his employer can fire him,but its not like there isn't another accounting firm out there. There is only one NFL, and only one professional football league that pays multiple-millions a year to play a game.

I'm not condoning his actions in anyway. I'm saying that the NFL has made it very clear that you will both be unemployed,ex-millionaires if you report domestic violence.

Then the NFL clearly needs to change its policies and make players who commit domestic violence accountable for their actions, doesn't it. If it did so, more women who were abused by their football-playing boyfriends or husbands might be more willing to report them.

If she hit him first he has the right to defend himself. Just because he knocked her the hell out doesn't affect anything. She shouldn't have started a fight with someone she wasn't capable of beating.

I seriously doubt Rice was "defending himself." He looked a lot bigger and heavier than she is. You obviously don't know she "hit him first," since you said "if."

In any case, his indefinite suspension is clearly deserved. The NFL really needs to change its policies when it comes to players who commit acts of domestic violence against their girlfriends or wives.

Why did it take seeing the video inside the elevator to deduce what happened in the elevator?

What did people believe happened to Rice's GF in the elevator for Rice to drag her unconscious body out into the lobby?

Are you typically judgmental before seeing evidence?

Ray Lewis admits being involved in the murder of 2 men, and he gets honored by the Ravens with a statue.

Ray Rice gets caught smacking his fiancée in an elevator. Terrible optics, bad behavior, but for whatever reason she forgave him. He pays a price, goes to his "intervention" (whatever that entailed), and the Ravens cut him.

I'll respect the Ravens in some other lifetime.

Don't you think men should change their attitudes towards women in general, that it's not okay to beat your wife or your girlfriend? and not just sports figures either.

Depends on which elevator. If it were an elevator in the Willis (Sears) tower, I could see how someone might pass out from the dizzying ride down to the ground floor, especially if the person has had a couple of whiskeys before the ride, might make one pass out.

What a ridiculous statement.

Let me clue you in...I spoke of the new video. AFTER, Rice plead down a DV charge. AFTER the first video of him dragging his unconscious GF out of the elevator. AFTER the NFL's 2 game suspension for DV.

I know what you spoke on, and you insinuated that people should have known from the first video what the second video showed. How could they have known?
