POLL: one-third say Impeach Obama

Yes - of course - right on the money!!!!! :doh Right wingers are true patriots who want the Constitution followed and everybody else are just godless commies who want to wipe their backside with the document. Thank you for honest commentary.

Thanks for the non reply. Again, what do you think a "Right Winger" is? Because I certainly don't think that people that want the Constitution followed are a "winger" of any kind.

Perhaps old-time conservatives believed in those things but not modern conservatives. During the Bush Administration, modern conservatives believed that deficits don't matter; they didn't believe in limited foreign intervention nor limiting the government's encroachment upon individual liberties and freedom. Back then, they were fine with Bush setting up "Free Speech Zones" a mile away -- roping off of protestors where nobody would hear them. They didn't care that Bush was tapping Americans' phones. It's all to keep us safe, they said.

You are confusing Republicans and Conseratives, not the same thing.

Now that there is a Democrat (and a black one at that) in the White House, all of a sudden deficits matter again; preserving personal rights is on their lips as well as liberty.
I don't know what you are thinking by saying that all of a sudden deficits matter. I don't know any conservatives that were happy with Bush's spending. And you fail to acknowledge that Obama's spending is on an entirely different level, and absolutely mind boggling one.

And what is the point about him being (half) black? Are you making the absurd suggestion that if Obama was more white, conservatives would support his destructive policies?

Really? Is that what you think about Obama's spending? That just means you have no idea. This is Bush's spending:

Might have more impact if the graphs were the same scale.

Regardless of scale, which I don't control, spending increased 70% under Bush and 8-9% under Obama. So much for conservatives screaming about Obama going on a spending spree.

I wasn't disagreeing with the graphs.

Hey, don't just post a couple of graphs, make your point. If you are going to say I have no idea, you better come up with a little more than a couple of misleading graphs. I mean, what are you saying, Bush spent more than Obama? How much did Bush add to the deficit?
And remember, I am no fan of Bush'e spending, I am a conservative.

Dont you need a case of some sort to impeach him for? What case, with real evidence.. is there, that is impeachable?

Well, Bush was the most conservative president in 100 years. It's funny how conservatives now declare that Bush really wasn't a conservative when they were silent at the time.

My point shown by the graphs should have been obvious, the trajectory of Bush Era spending was a 45 degree line that increased spending by 70%. Obama added about 8.5% in his term.

Regarding the deficit, as I have said many times, the deficit under Obama is largely due to the Great Recession that dropped revenues by $500 billion a year. There were also additional social spending, but those kick in automatically regardless of who lives in the White House. That's the government we have responding to a terrible economy, as it should. In any case, the deficit is shrinking drastically now.

More on this, Bush's tax cuts are the reason there was a deficit at all during his term. Had those cuts not occurred, the debt would have been paid off in 2006 and there would have been no reason not to stimulate the economy heavily to rebound from the Great Recession in 2008.

It is an indication of the increasing polarization of the electorate and the lengths to which some will go just to carry out their ideological or political agenda regardless of what the Constitution says.

Lol? LOL! That has to be the funnies defense of Obama ever made. Hands down.

Well, Bush was the most conservative president in 100 years.

Amazing to me how people view things. I have always thought of Bush as being to the left of Clinton. But I'm not a partisan so I my view doesn't get so clouded by politics.

Big deal - I am quite sure about 1/3 wanted to impeach him the day he took office.

When it's past 50%, then I will care about it.

In all fairness, roughly 30% is always the percentage of hardline partisans, right and left.

This------------------^. That's the truth. It always seems to me like 1/3 is hard left, 1/3 is hard right, and 1/3 waffles around in the middle.

Well, are tax-cuts a conservative policy? Of course they are and Bush forced the biggest tax-cut in decades, perhaps ever. But what did those tax-cuts do? They transformed a $230 billion surplus he inherited from the "liberal" Bill Clinton into a $440 billion deficit in three years -- by far the worst fiscal record in American history.

The disconnect isn't that Bush wasn't a conservative, it's that when in power, conservatives want to use the power of government their way. Thus, instead of championing personal freedom, he used government to be intrusive in the name of anti-terrorism. He asserted that we were fighting for freedom in Iraq but labeled anyone who questions his course of action, aiding the terrorists and not patriotic.

When the GOP was in charge of all three law-making bodies, they engaged in the highest amount of earmark and pork barrel projects in history.

What I am saying is that modern conservatives talk-the-talk but when in power they don't walk-the-walk.

Yeah, Bush was a conservative, that's a good one. I guess Clinton and Obama are too, LOL!
Let's get down to real numbers...
National Debt has increased more under Obama than under Bush - CBS News
I mean, is this really in dispute? The man's spending is out of control, completely reckless. Bush is lucky to have him, otherwise he would be the worst.

It isn't necessary to tell me that both parties do the same things when in power despite what they preach. I already understand that. The disconnect between rhetoric and action is vast for both parties. Bush spent like a drunken sailor. That isn't conservative, at least it isn't part of conservative rhetoric. I thought Clinton was was actually a conservative in Democrat attire. He talked the liberal talk but did things in a more conservative manner than Bush. Bush was the opposite. He talked the conservative talk but did the conservative things.

The problem with partisanship is that it really isn't based on ideology. It is based on a hunger for political power. Partisans often confuse rhetoric with actions. Both parties want political power. They say what they think will get it for them and then they do what they think will maintain it regardless of how liberal or conservative the actions are in ideological terms. That is why we get bigger, more expensive, more intrusive government regardless of which political party is in charge.

Tax cuts don't cause deficits, over spending causes deficits.

Conservatives were not in power, it was GOP establishment, go along to get along Republicans.

It's absurd to say that tax-cuts don't cause deficits. If not, then let's cut taxes to zero and see if no deficit appears. In Kansas, they thought as you and the radical conservatives radically cut taxes. What happened? State revenue dropped by 1/3.

The crop of Republicans that have been in power over the last 20 years have been the most conservative in history. How conservative enough do they need to be show their colors, go back to burning witches?

It will not happen but the pending lawsuit will go through. Obama has become a pathetic figure and an impeachment would only hurt the conservatives. We have heard enough of his lies and Billy Bob's impeachment was funny enough to last. Don't forget an eve bigger liar is squatting in the corner for her run at the office.

Cut taxes to zero? What conservative is proposing that? I guess you want taxes at 100% then. We had two Presidents who didn't care what the state of the economy was, they were going to spend no matter what. At least Bush got a recovery going, Obama doesn't care about the economy, and has run deficits into the $Trillions.
Then, after his Trillion dollar deficits, he tells his idiot followers that he's made huge cuts in the deficit. Oh, really? Thanks so much! It's like a thief stealing your money and giving some back and expecting you to thank him for what he's done.

Boy, this guy sure depends on the low information crowd.

Well you see, you need to correctly place the midline on that graph, up around 1.0, rather than the 0.0 mark it's at.

That shows that all politicians are liberal, as we well know.

Or something like that...:2razz:

Lol? LOL! That has to be the funnies defense of Obama ever made. Hands down.

Good luck getting 2/3 of the Senate on board then.

Remember, on a couple of the counts against Clinton, they couldn't even get a simple majority. Which means that they didn't even get all the Republicans.

Bush got the recovery going? The economy was booming during Clinton. There was a short recession in 2001. Job gains during Bush were 3 million compared to 22 millin under Clinton and 10.5 million under Carter.

Bush also ended his last term with the worst recession since the Great Depression. That's not a record I'd be boasting about.

The deficit for 2009 was projected to be over a trillion before Obama became president. That certainly can't be blamed on him. Yet, the deficit is falling rapidly and the debt, which cons are obsessed about, is quite manageable.
