US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’ [W:326]

Re: US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’

Was not Afghanistan given the opportunity to hand OBL over to the US following 9/11?

Was not Saddam Hussein given the opportunity to come clean with his programs on multiple occasion, as well as the chance to step down and go onto exile?

You're kind always looks to blame your own first without any objectivity.

I bet you blame Israel for the current conflict too don't you?

Pathetic.

Israel has been to blame since 1948!

Re: US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’

It's been documented all over the ME forum.

I have limited time to be on here these days, so I don't tend to float all over the boards looking for the meaning of some vague statement of another poster....Humor me....What do you mean?

In a nut shell, Israel's presence and oppression of the Palestinian people is the problem. But then you know this.

Re: US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’

Here's the deal that Palestinians and the rest of the ME needs to know. Israel is not going to go anywhere. There are currently approx. 7.7 MILLION people living there. 7.7 Million people are not just going to walk up, uproot everything and leave.

I am a big critic on the creation of Israel, however, it was done and there are millions of people living there right now. Time to get over that fact and ACCEPT Israel's right to exist. That is the BASIS of the problems with Israel and Palestine is that the people in charge in Palestine don't accept the the right for Israel to exist.

Now the second issue is that the ME countries got a little squirrely and decided to test Israel and lost. Those lands were taken by the victor Israel. They aren't going back, deal with it and move on. That is the price for waging war with Israel.

Those two factors have been the source of the ongoing conflict in Israel.

I won't disagree with you on that. Nor does it dismiss the fact that for the Palestinians, the creation of Israel IS the problem, that always has been and always will be their position and therefore, there cannot be peace there.

Well like I said the reality is Israel is going to remain there. If Palestinians are not going to recognize the right for Israel to exist, it is only inevitable that they will not get their statehood and they will most likely get wiped out. That's ALL on the Palestinians at this point.

Who's to say who will be wiped out. But a wrong, as you conceded the creation of Israel to be, doesn't cease to be a wrong because the perpetrator manages to press the wrong for decades. I will agree that Israel moved in there to stay, and that they would fight any fight to the end. The other Arab states, usually supportive of Palestinians are quiet this time, save Qatar. That's not because they sympathize with Israel. It's because while they support authoritarian regimes, they don't like them coming to power in a democratic fashion. That is threatening to them. And they aren't fond of the MB. So the Palestinians get thrown under the bus this time. It's funny though that the pro-Israel crowd is using a few Arab states reluctance to openly support the Palestinians as proof that they support Israel, lol.

The U.S. wronged the American Indian population in the U.S. during its time of creation. We are not going to undue that harm. That is reality.

Yes, the wrong doesn't go away, but the reality is that Israel is not going away either. If the Palestinians cannot accept that, they will be wiped out eventually because Israel is going to have to in its defense.

Re: US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’

They've been closely watching them, what does that have to do with anything?

Obama's mind was probably made up in 2012. He will ever escalate anything in Iraq.

Him saying he is "considering" options is just to appease the warmongering Republicans like McCain.
No it means he has no idea what to do.

Re: US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’

Because Jews, who have existed as a people for over 3 millenia, are the one people in the world who absolutely cannot be allowed to express any self-determination.

....As opposed to Palestinians, who have existed as a people only since the creation of Israel, and whose manifest destiny involves the obliteration of the Jewish state.

If you think that Israel moving in and then responding to Palestinian is defensive, there's a problem. In fact every problem created by men remains because of that tired old excuse. Well, its here now, nothing we can do about it. But when there was something that could be done, namely when the crime is being committed, good men, outnumbered, do nothing. Wiping the Palestinians out wouldn't be painless, and with growing US/UK condemnation now, not likely.

I'm sorry, but what do you see as a solution, Israel moving? I mean really, if that is what you are going to argue, you aren't dealing with reality. 7.7 million people are not going to uproot and walk away, so what other solution is there?

That's a GROSE mis characterization. No one objects to Israeli self determination, what's protested is Israeli self determination at Palestinian expense. And all reasonable individuals would understand that.

No, I already agreed with you that Israel isn't going anywhere. It's the two choices we've already mentioned. Palestinians are afforded the SAME rights that Israelis have or this thing trudges on to its bloody end.

To do that Hamas has to STOP firing rockets into Israel. Until they do that, there will be no deal on the table.

I agree they should have a state, but they are distancing themselves from that goal with each rocket they fire indiscriminately into Israel civilian centers.

Re: US and Islamic State: ‘We did see this coming’

The US is greatly benefited by a divided ME. Handing arms to one side while "supporting" another is not new policy. Creating confusion is the oldest tactic used in warfare. And the war for declining global resources continues..

Of course the Russians are innocent, they never supported anyone over there right; not with RPGs, AK-47's, ammo, nuclear reactors or anything else invented in Russian, right?

The Palestinians are being used as proxies by other Islamic countries. They certainly can't manufacture their own rockets.

Once radical Islam gets rid of the Jews and the Christians they will have control of the Middle East and much of the world's oil, even while Obama refuses to allow oil exploration or the Keystone pipeline. China and Russia have moved into Central America and, as well as a canal to compete with Panama, they are also building oil refineries. I expect Venezuelan oil and Mexican oil may be going there soon.

The US has the strongest military in the world but it is wasted against terrorism and deeper political and strategic moves, especially those where essential energies, even water, are concerned.

Only uninformed people know that, and J-Mac is not uninformed.

Who is stopping the Palestinians from having the same rights as the Israelis, or anyone else?

The Russians would gladly sale their nuclear arms to the highest bidder for a quick buck. No one claimed they're innocent. Most, if not all, superpowers exploit other nations which is likely why they are a superpower to start with .. they certainly didn't get there by being nice.

It's the Israelis killing civilians, 1600-1800!! I think Hamas has killed 70 or so Israelis with 65 or so being soldiers.

Oh so you're saying NONE of the rockets fired into Israel have killed civilians? You're really going with that?
