Inmate Dies 2 Hours After Execution in Arizona

Read more @: Arizona Inmate Joseph Wood Dies 2 Hours After Execution in Arizona - ABC News

Another botched execution. 2 hours to die. That is cruel and unusual. The death penalty needs to go.

From the article:
“One thing is certain, however, inmate Wood died in a lawful manner and by eyewitness and medical accounts he did not suffer. This is in stark comparison to the gruesome, vicious suffering that he inflicted on his two victims – and the lifetime of suffering he has caused their family."

Just sayin'.

When it slowly kills someone for 2 hours and leaves them conscious gasping for air and snorting.

He was apparently conscious. From the first link: ""he was apparently left conscious long after the drugs were administered."

You must be referring to a different article. I'm looking at the ABC article from the OP and don't see anything about him being conscious.

Should I feel bad about this? Because I don't.

Yes dammit. First his victims went ahead and thoughtlessly died thereby framing this victimized murderer then he was knocked unconscious before we could finally off him.

How about we just stop making victims out of murderers. Wouldn't that be a whole lot easier?

Impossible to do.

No, very easy. Just recognize that a murderer is someone who has chosen to unjustly take the life of another human being, and that by so doing, he has forfeited his own humanity, and cannot rationally be considered a “victim” of anything that happens to him or is done to him as a consequence.

It's very easy indeed, as long as you're not someone who cares more about the very worst of criminals than you do about honest citizens who these criminals may have victimized.

Does it matter if they suffered? It's execution, their comfort should be the least of our concern. If lethal injection is so iffy why not shoot, hang, shock or go with the old fashioned "off with their head" decapitation? Sentencing serious crimes to death is neither cruel nor unusual from a legal and historical standpoint.

Indeed, the Constitution clearly contemplates the use of the death penalty (so long as due process is followed).

I didnt look at it that way.... ok I just did and I still feel the same. Why so many on this forum take the side of the murderer and not the victims family's is disgusting and I guarantee that tune would change if it was their loved one.

How about we get rid of the penalty all together for several reasons
1.)Possibility of innocence
2.)It causes pain, and suffering which is cruel and unusual.

It's only unusual because they don't do it nearly enough.

So we should forsake the security of millions on the possibility of innocence of a few?

Lots of things in life cause pain. Should be ban them also, say like child birth?

Once you're dead, you can't own anything, and you cant leave your body parts to anyone, so why not let the state put them to use instead of letting them go to waste?

We are in the top 10 when it comes to executions in the world....

Not killing people means "forsaking the security of millions"?

Thats natrual.
