Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Report

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Does anyone remember when the Clinton's were said to have looted the White House when they moved out?

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

I'm sure his accountant will make it all look legit.

Pardon me if I wear my conspiracy hat for a minute.

Consider this. If a street gang can start a business front as a rap music promoter, pay a rap artist 20k to perform, print up 200k worth of tickets, buy the tickets themselves with drug money and then just give the tickets away.... Now the money is legit. Earned off ticket sales. Bada bing...

What's to stop a politician from publishing 100k copies of their book and have the corporate crooks, who want to buy their influence, just purchase his books instead of outright bribing him?

Just a thought.

Well, according to reports he's made $6 million thus far on his one book and they're planning a children's version. Haven't looked, but it sounds like a good enough conspiracy theory.

...makes the world go 'round?

Yep. Every decision like this comes down to money. Either because it will cost less of it, or they see it as an opportunity to make more of it.

I missed that one, but saw where they supposedly trashed the place and stole all the W keys on the keyboards.

I really don't think either of the Obamas are money acquisition types.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

I wonder if Obama gonna pay his mo'gage fo' him?

Really? gonna play the race bit via ebonics?

Stay classy champ!

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will reportedly buy a $4.25 million home in Rancho Mirage before the end of the month, the Los Angeles Times reported, but the White House denies the rumors. <snip>

Is Obama Buying A Home In Rancho Mirage?

Deja Vu...

Just like the Bush White House denied the Paraguay rumors.

I wish we could have an original scandal now and then.

Maybe one day he'll go a Trayvonin' through your neighborhood?

More race baiting. I actually think better of you than these last couple of posts.

Not a race bit at all. An Obama supporter bit. There is video of Obama supporters claiming that Obama is going to pay their mortgage. I was just wondering if Obama is going to pay Obama's mortgage.

Now, THAT'S original! Too funny.

Maybe he thought it needed a little diversity? Another wealthy elitist white man, but this time with a little African blood thrown in for good measure.

And another race card.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Yeah, they really don't get paid all that much. I know they bring in bank on speaking engagements and sweetheart deals AFTER they leave office. But Obama had the two books didn't he? That should have set him up pretty well.

Book deals too.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Race card? Where?

dropping a race bit then playing coy with it... rather childish.

And you're playing dishonest when no race card was played. What would you call that?

I can say with 100% certainty that I have never bought, and never will, a politician's book. I am an average, run of the mill person. I have to wonder, after production, distribution, taxes, payroll and all other overhead costs, how many books does one have to sell to profit 6 mil? Who's buying them? We're not talking Harry Potter books here.

I have a cousin-in-law. She is a very successful writer. She owns a wine shop in St. Pete too. She has had several successful best seller publications and a cult like following. I can tell you right now that she isn't making that kind of money. Not a fraction.

It's a sham. I truly believe that in my gut. I got no proof.

I didn't say anything about race, you did. I mentioned diversity.

No lying here. You go ahead and keep drawing false conclusions though if it entertains you.

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

Perhaps I shouldn't have referred to the 4.25 million dollar home as a "crib?"

I guess that makes me a racist too. :lamo

Re: Obama family set to buy $4.25M desert home: Whatta Great Country, eh?

This just shows he is not the brightest bulb.

If you are going to choose a state to live in, California would be one of the last.

He is from Hawaii, then to Illinois and now where is he going to be "from"?

Has there been any other President that did not go back to the state that elected them? Maybe he is scared for his kids with all the violence in Chicago.
