As nothing more than a pr measure, Karl Rove had Bush to buy a big texas ranch. Once it had served its purpose, he dispensed with it. Funny how partisans behave.

Several real estate agents, speaking anonymously, said they heard secondhand that the president was looking to buy the 1993 home, which is downhill from the residence of Michael Smith, a personal friend of Michelle Obama who was the interior designer of the Sunnylands Center and the Oval Office.

Yup, nothing iffy about this story at all.

Thanks for hunting that down. It does look like speculation. However, this sort of reply I hate, it doesn't answer the damn question and makes them look like they're hiding something. A simple "No" would have been an easy answer.

During the briefing, Earnest was asked, "Has the president or anyone on his behalf bought a house in California or planning to buy a house in California?"

Earnest replied: "I've seen those reports, too. Those reports are not accurate."

Yeah, I don't understand the necessity for that kind of answer either.

Nope, vetted. They are actually going to move the entire White House there. Good stuff.

I wasn't aware that the ranch had been sold.

So it's official: George W. Bush is not a cowboy. We pretty much suspected he wasn't when we learned that, for all his bow-legged strutting, the man's afraid of horses. But last week, Bush let the other Lucchese boot drop: He and Laura bought a $2 million, fancy-pants house in Dallas's toniest neighborhood and will soon be high-tailin' it out of that eight-year-old stage set of a "ranch" in Crawford. Any uncleared brush can go clear itself.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

He goes there all the time for Christmas, but I thought he was renting a villa there. He couldn't afford a $35 million home anyway, could he?

$2 million isn't impressive for a former POTUS who is the eldest son of a weathy family.
