Israel may have committed war crimes during Gaza offensive, UN says

and with about 100 times the reading comprehension.

It gets pretty ridiculous at times.

From someone who says we should just turn the other way when it's Israel, and then says I have the double standard. Yep...that's way smarter!

and the people who are responsible because they have vowed to "kill Jews until they hide behind rtocks and trees", and have been trying to kill any Jew they can by lobbying rockets at them, intentionally embedding themselves among civilians,are....... ...their names..... they are called...........

come on, K, I know you can do it if you just set your mind to it!

Thanks for not disagreeing with my fundamental point, i.e. that comparing rocket "attacks" on Israel to the latter's attacks on Gaza is completely stupid.

The UN's focus on Israel is hardly unwarranted. Hundreds of Palestinians civilians have been killed, while only a handful of Israeli civilians have been killed. Usually you pay more attention to who is responsible for nearly all of the civilian deaths. Focusing equally on Hamas or more on Hamas would be biased towards Israel as it treats the massive and destructive loss of life as equivalent to the general nuisance threat of Palestinian rockets. Israel can blather about "human shields" all they like, but anyone objective would recognize that these high casualty figures are common in many wars of this nature and are mostly due to the lack of distinction between the combatant population and the civilian population. All Hamas figures and infrastructure are targeted wherever they are and that sometimes includes times when they are among civilians. Just like in Cast Lead when they were bombing police stations, Israel can not hide behind "human shield" excuses when it is knowingly bombing civilian structures based merely on the presence of someone affiliated with the Hamas government, militant or otherwise. They want to kill Hamas-affiliated officials wherever they are without due regard to the presence of civilians or an active threat from that location, then that means they will kill far more civilians than militants and will have no one to blame but themselves.

Look, whether you care to admit it or not, the UN has targeted and condemned Israel more than any other country while largely ignoring anything the Palestinians do.

Just look at this report drafted by the UN Human Rights Council. CSN did a story on it here and they point out that in the 3 page draft the Palestinians are mentioned just once.

The UN is a big fat joke... They are irrelevant and the US should pull the plug in this failed organization.

But at any rate, whatever the UN's record, do you think it's OK for Israel to do whatever they want because they're Israel?

That's the press, not what may or may not have been said by the UN.

You took one comment and dismissed the entire narrative in the discussion, which is to ignore the impossible moral dilemma faced by Israel every day: allow their own civilians to be bombed on a daily basis (inconceivable) or to attack their attackers, risking the deaths of Palestinian civilians (equally inconceivable). And then, to make matters worse, to dismiss at every chance the reality of Hamas using their own people as shields just for PR. What is not discussed seriously or in any depth by Israel's detractors is just what the holy **** Israel is supposed to do in the face of this impossible moral dilemma. Only a few people have the chutzpah to come right out and say that Israel needs to just not exist, leave, or something closely related to that. The rest, knowing what that will do to their credibility, opt to ignore the question altogether.

I support Israel's right to defend themselves, and I have not at any point dismissed anything about Hamas. I support their invasion in this case because it's what they had to do.

My support for Israel's right to self-defense is not, however, unconditional. They do not have the right to commit war crimes no matter who it's against, or no matter what the UN says.

From someone who says we should just turn the other way when it's Israel, and then says I have the double standard. Yep...that's way smarter!

Now you are just flat-out lying.

Hamas has vowed genocide. The Israelis haven't. Hamas fires rockets indiscriminantly trying to kill any Jew they can. Israel targets the Hamas firing points, even going so far as to try to reduce civilian casualties by announcing it.

You have the opinion that Jews are the one people in the world who are absolutely NOT allowed to defend themselves despite this continuous provocation by those who would kill them all if they could, and should they take any steps to rout out the positions from which they are being fiored upon, you resort to the most idiotic moral equivalencies. Israel ISN'T doing what Hamas is doing.

Anybody with a brain realizes that if they WERE the same, Israel would have wiped them out years ago.
