Overnight, someone climbed to the top of both the Brooklyn Bridge's 273-foot towers. A terrifying feat on its own, the culprit(s) decided to stick around and paint the American flags atop the iconic structure white.

Police have no idea who the climbers/painters were, or how they might have gotten up there. The bridge is considered a high-profile terrorism target, so it is under constant security. Except last night, obviously.

Since the cops don't have a clue who did this, I'm going to guess that they probably won't catch them.

What do you guys think about this amazing feat?

I could say a lot of things, but I'll just suggest that the fools who are supposed to be securing this location might want to think about installing some security cameras so that the next time this happens they'll have some idea who did it.

LOL

Funny - the fact that they actually think someone took a paint brush and paint up there. (I can't tell if the article wrote that part as a joke or not)

Nice bit of modern art probably inspired by someone like Banksey. They got what they wanted by the media coverage as we know live in an age where we literally report everything. I could literally take a **** this morning on London bridge, stick a Israeli flag in it and it would be considered news worthy/ protest art.

For some reason I suspect it didn't happen just overnight - they just happened to notice it now.

Now that is derring-do.

They weren't painted. They were bleached white during a 13 minute span. They covered the spotlights with buckets while they did it.

Gosh darn, does this mean our security is in jeopardy? Does this mean we are not really as secure as the government tells us we are? ;)

Probably some damn viral marketing campaign.

Could be, but they apparently circumvented the entire bridge security, which means it either sucks really bad or it was someone who works there.

We need to pass a new bill requiring evasive searches of anyone attempting to use the bridge. Maybe this group can fall under the TSA. Or we can make an entire new arm of the government for our protection. Each car and person will go through a rigorous check to cross the bridge within our own borders. I am calling my congressman now.

I think they'll replace the flag and be done with it so we can get on to real newz.

If they had that much time to do that without being noticed, what else could they have done to that bridge in that much time?

They should have flown the flag upside down as well. We can only guess to the actual message they were trying to achieve but I think that would have added to the power of their message.

Do you have any idea what waving a white flag means?

Well ya. Surrender. Is the bridge surrendering? Are we surrendering to the ruling of judges? Are we surrendering to children who flood our borders? Are we surrendering to ISIS? How about Putin and the Russian regime. So, ya, we can only guess to the actual message they were trying to achieve. Unless you were one of them or in communication with them, you can only guess.

The fact no one saw it happening after security was beefed up from previous events early, is worrisome.

I'm not going to waste any time worrying about what message the losers who did this are trying to put out, I'll let the NYPD deal with it.

Hopefully they'll catch the losers who did this and make them pay for it.

But you get the gist of what I am saying right?

That all we can do, hope they catch the people responsible and apply the law properly.

It is worrisome.

Maybe the boogeyman spectre of scary terrorists trying to bomb everything just isnt that real. Maybe we have blown a trillion dollars plus on nothing... or at least not a whole lot. It IS a scary thought.

That was a pretty entertaining incident! Boston and a bunch of other cities went nuts over those things!
