Federal appeals courts issue contradictory rulings on health-law subsidies

    Just to confuse things:

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the subsidies available under the 2010 health-care law may be provided only to residents of states that set up their own health insurance marketplaces. Less than two hours later, the Richmond-based 4th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the subsidies, ruling in a separate case that the law’s language was ambiguous, giving the Obama administration the authority to allow the subsidies nationwide.

I bet there is more to come.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

You should read the second opinion, where they ruled the subsidies were allowed for all exchanges. They state that clearly the plaintiffs argument is more sound than the governments, but then they use a pizza analogy to say the state exchange subsidies are ok.

No joke, the opinion stated if I order a pepperoni and sausage pizza from Pizza Hut, but the delivery guy brings me a pepperoni and sausage pizza from Dominos, why should I care who made it, I still got my pepperoni and sausage pizza.

You know it. This will go all the way to the SCOTUS and in about two years there will be a ruling on it. Until then life goes on as normal, as normal as it can in a totally dysfunctional Washington D.C. Where the majority of Americans look on with disgust on the President, on the Republicans in the house and on the Democrats in the senate. 55% disapproval for President Obama, 60% disapproval for the Democrats in the senate and 67% disapproval for the Republicans in the house.

As far as these rulings go, I will just sit back and wait for the SCOTUS to decide. It does no good from yesterday on to fret about it, what will happen will happen.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
