I have never heard of anybody being diagnosed with listeria before, but I have defiantly been eating a lot of the fruit included in the article. My grocery store even put out a notice, and I saw it yesterday.

Nationwide recall of fruit includes Costco, Sam’s Club | KHON2

Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Anyone who has the recalled fruits in their possession should not consume them and should discard them.

No illnesses have been linked to this recall to date.

The suspected fruit can be returned to Costco for a full refund.

Sam’s Club for more information.

My mom and uncle said that the local hospitals are sending emails to the staff, letting them know more about listeria. My understanding is that I have some of the symptoms (especially stomach pains and cramps), but it can run it's course. You don't need to take antibiotics if you have some symptoms. If you are elderly or a small child, it can be more severe.

Gee, you've got some of the symptoms, but you're defiantly still eating fruit that is the subject of a health warning/recall.

Sounds like someone is prepping for a little lawsuit or just someone who's actions aren't very bright.

Just as a side note, listeria is quite serious and health departments take it quite seriously. Here in Toronto and Canada, about 6 years ago, we had an outbreak of listeria that originated in a meat packing plant - of about 60 people who contracted the bacteria, over 20 of them died.

Hope you are feeling better and get over symptoms without any lasting repercussions.

I eat a lot of fruit but don't shop at these stores, whew!
But for it to be a nationwide fruit recall, I haven't heard a word about it. Hmmm

Thanks. My grocery store called me, automated message, and told me not to eat the fruit I bought... Well, its too late. :(

Nice of them to call but......
I'm like you, I eat the fruit I purchase within a couple days of purchasing it, while it's fresh.

Hang in there

Packaged June 1 - July 12. Damn - that's old. They're all eaten or rotten by now.
