'Our Citizens are Under Siege': Perry Sends National Guard to Border

Monday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) announced he is deploying 1,000 Texas National Guard to the U.S. border with Mexico, saying he can not idly sit by while "our citizens are under siege."

Pointing out the tens of thousands pf unaccompanied minors only make up roughly 20 percent of those being apprehended illegally crossing the border, Perry said he can no longer wait for the president to act as gang members and drug cartels flood into Texas, causing crime to skyrocket. Perry pointed out Texas tax payers can not bear the expense of processing and housing the surge of illegal immigration caused by President Obama's 2012 executive action "Dream Act" which has given people in Central America the idea children will be allowed to stay once in the U.S. "

How many threads about that subject are there now?

Texas is a Big place so the thread count per issue should be proportional.

Why, that's almost one trooper per mile of border.

(texas is a big ass state)

You seriously think we should post them shoulder to shoulder ?

You think every inch of our Southern border is identical ?

That they wouldn't be deployed on parts of the borders that are easily accessible and not be deployed where it was impossible to get accross ?

Yes my one sentence post should be construed to be a comprehensive review of border security protocols.

You can't cross every single mile of the Texas/Mexico border. Some places are too treacherous.

Thats why they send the kids across first. They don't carry as much drugs as adults.

Yes, sending kids across who immediately surrender to border patrol is an effective method of importing drugs.

Good!!

Let Texans pay to protect their border instead of using my tax dollars. After all, I didn't tell them to move so close to the border

That's the way to look out for your fellow Americans!

It's an effective way of overwhelming the border patrol so that smugglers aren't as detectable.

Like when some people said after Hurricane Katrina, that living in New Orleans means people knew that hurricans could come! I'm glad we all agree!

Perry says he gonna send the TNG bill to the feds.

Suddenly the right wants the feds to be their nanny and look out for what's best for them

Perry wanted Obama to declare West Texas a disaster area with the fires a few years back...Perry wasn't shy asking the feds for FEMA money.

I thought Perry had done that already and there was a picture of it

No, we just want them to enforce the law.

And the money is well spent given the increased cost to local communities and State governments that illegal immigration causes

Perry's always looking for a reason to make the case Texas is under siege. The current siege is by "kids". Perry's previous siege claim was "abortion clinics". That's paradoxical in a way.
