US, world powers agree to extend deadline for Iran to meet nuclear scale-back deal

Re: US, world powers agree to extend deadline for Iran to meet nuclear scale-back dea

You lefties crack me up..........they could be invading this country and you lefties would say lets talk to them and reason with them while they are killing us. I know you lefties are afraid to fight but at some point you have to take a stand.........

Germany and the USSR could not invade USA, what makes you think Iran could?

Re: US, world powers agree to extend deadline for Iran to meet nuclear scale-back dea

Exactly. For the life of me, I can not understand the people who whined about WMDs in Iraq. Anyone who supported that war on the basis of them having (or thought that they had) WMD is nuts. Anyone who decided that we went to war based on a lie is admitting that they would support going to war over WMD. I am trying to understand why anyone would think that.

We went to war in Iraq for a number of reasons that were valid. It would be terribly wrong to go to war with Iran simply because we think that they have, or soon will have, WMDs. But all those people who supported the Iraq war if they had WMD will probably led us down that path again. And Iran has none of the other rationales that Iraq had.

Yes and they DID NOTHING while iraq USED WMD's for over 10 years! That is what really kills their ideas and arguments. They only care about WMD's when
they think they have a profitable and glorious war they can start.

(in the Iran/iraq war)

Don't know if your aware of it or not but GWB has not been president for almost six years. When does Obama start accepting some of the blame for his screw ups.

Presidents (republican ones too) rarely if ever accept responsibility for screw ups, its usually someone down the rung (Scooter Libby) that takes the fall. Obama's no different. That said, look at post number 121 and tell me what Obama has screwed up with regards to Iran?

Re: US, world powers agree to extend deadline for Iran to meet nuclear scale-back dea

My plan is to give Israel all the support they need to take out Iran's nuclear facility.

Thank gawd you and your liker aren't in charge of anything.

Re: US, world powers agree to extend deadline for Iran to meet nuclear scale-back dea

Of course I would have let them stay to finish their job. When complete, their report would have mooted the need for war with Iraq, 4,500 US service personel would still be with us, the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens that have died in the course of a decade or better, wouldn't have, we'd have an extra trillion or so dollars in our wallet as well as far more global credibility. It's amazing you guys still defend Iraq. Only the cost prohibits me from laughing.

BERKELEY – Speaking on the anniversary of the United States' invasion of Iraq, originally declared as a pre-emptive strike against a madman ready to deploy weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), the man first charged with finding those weapons said that the U.S. government has "the same mind frame as the witch hunters of the past" — looking for evidence to support a foregone conclusion.
For your conclusions to be creditable I would think that you would have to account for all of the 23 reasons for the war in Iraq as listed in the Congressional Authorization. 23 introductory paragraphs starting with "Whereas..." followed by a reason. Some turned out invalid and many were not.
And please do some independent study on the demographics of Iraq. In 2002, the population was c. 22 million, death rate was averaging c. 8.5 per thousand for the previous 10 years, and infant mortality was 63 per 1,000. Almost as soon as the invasion started the death rate improved and is now averaging c. 5 per 1,000. For a country of 25 million, a drop of 3 points in the death rate would mean 75,000 lives SAVED a year. The population jumped to 31 million, more than almost all other countries over that time period. Infant mortality rates improved.
I contend that Iraq war saved lives. Clinton said that his biggest regret was not taking action in Rwanda when a reasonable person could have foreseen what was going to take place there. (Something similar happened in Burundi several months earlier.) Sometimes the world should react in places like Rwanda, Iraq, Cambodia, Liberia, etc. I realize that few agree but the Iraq war saved lives and removed a threat to world peace-Saddam.
I had one son serving in the infantry in Iraq. No problem. Now he is about to be shipped to Afghanistan. Now that is the stupid war that we never should have gotten involved in. All we are doing there is creating more jihadists.

That's odd, most people support the afghan war and think the Iraq war was the stupid war. I guess that's why they make chocolate AND vanilla. At any rate, all anyone heard was "mushroom clouds over US cities"

Astonishing, isn't it? One could have made such a case for why Afghanistan was a stupid war. The Taliban ran it, not Al Qaeda, and the Taliban had no ambitions to attack the US-they focused only on internal issues. Al Qaeda may have had some presence in Afghanistan but Al Qaeda operates like a multinational stateless entity, totally scattered small cells and not concentrated anywhere. Like trying to smash mercury. It is common for countries to refuse to turn over people. Canada and Mexico have refused to turn people over. Carter refused to turn the Shah over to Iran. Of course Afghanistan's Taliban leaders would refuse the US request.
The important thing would be to prevent another attack, not to lose 2,400 additional American lives in the hopes of getting revenge on one person who happened to be in Pakistan for most of the time. His life was not worth one of those Americans.

Astonishing!? Not really. I'm with the guys that understand our terrorist problems are self inflicted.

So a bush-like preemptive war proxy styled with religious over and under tones. What could possibly go wrong?

"DOES US FOREIGN POLICY BREED TERRORISM"

Although the answer should be obvious, is to many, and increasingly more Americans are coming to this conclusion, here's a paper, consider it your reading assignment for the evening. We can discuss it tomorrow.

Fund and militarize a theocratic Jewish nation to preemptively attack a theocratic Muslim nation. This is exactly what you are proposing.

Considering that wars, and terrorism, have been going on throughout recorded history, a subject apparently not taught in today's schools, it hard to believe that it just began when America happened along.

What Monte is referring to though is the radical islamist we've been dealing with since our involvement with Saudi Arabia. The thing is though, we had to protect the oil to make sure it flows steadily, otherwise we have a shutdown of society. That's why we have to be involved in the ME so much.

Disgruntled Muslims began planning the attack as soon as George Bush became President and then attacked a few months later. George Bush alone is responsible for 9/11. That was the second attack on the WTC, and Bill Clinton was solely responsible for that one. History becomes so easy when taking the leftist perspective.

There is no oil protection.

The US has lost in the Middle East, refused the Canadian pipeline, halted exploration on government lands, outlawed coal, and siphoned off money to political cronies for solar power and wind power disasters.

China and Russia are building a canal across Nicaragua and will use Venezuelan oil, and will undoubtedly move into Mexico as well. Everyone is getting organized except the United States.
