Apparently those morons are now trying to hide their crime by removing the Buk system from the erea.

Great job! To the person who documented this! Another nail in their coffin.

Ukraine is saying that they have all their BUK launchers accounted for, and that the separatists didn't capture any. If this is true, then there's only one place the BUK could have come from that the separatists used to shoot down this plane...
Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, don't blame someone else, or expect others to make a change, you should stop complaining and make a different choice. Remember, the circumstances of your birth don't determine the outcome of your life.

    That, or the black market.

The theft (well, technically the majority were bought from corrupt officials)of weaponry, including vehicles and other weapons of war, is well documented. It is not completely unbelievable that they could have gotten one from the black market.

Ofc, the likely scenario is as you point out, Putin slipped them some. But there are other possibilities. there is also the possibility that the Ukraine govt has indeed "lost" a few and is denying this for various reasons, including to save face and absolve themselves of any wrong doing.

This isn't a putin defense. It's not. I agree that the scenario you hinted as is the most likely one. I am just saying, seeing as how this whole affair is riddled with lies and deceit it's best to not jump to conclusions. While the blame may fall heavy on the shoulders of the partisan separatists, who is to say that maybe a few other entities don't have a small share of the blame either.

Crash claims top AIDS researchers heading to Melbourne

    Also.

About 100 of the 298 people killed in the Malaysia Airlines crash were heading to Melbourne for a major AIDS conference, conference attendees have been told.

Health researcher Clive Aspin, who is attending the pre-conference, said the news had hit everyone hard, coming 16 years after AIDS research pioneer Jonathan Mann also died in a plane crash.

Friends and colleagues of Dutch HIV researcher Dr Joep Lange took to social media to express shock that he was among the victims. Dr Lange had been researching HIV for 30 years.
100 doctors and scientists died on that plane. I don't wanna diminish the deaths of the other almost 200 people but still, these were people who were trying to cure and solve the problems of AIDS... god dammit man... this is horrid.

Video of recordings containing the dialogue between separatists and some sort of official, which apparently, is Russian GRU (GRU = secret services like CIA combined with SWAT and navy seals, think of them like that. They do hits but also war and also repression on civilians).

The dialogue was intercepted by ukrainian intelligence services.

EDIT: I would say how disgusted I feel but there aren't words. The last guy you saw there, the one claiming that they were bringing in spies, that guy is a knobhead. Screw him. For one, it was leaving Ukraine, it was going to to Kuala Lumpur. There were 100 doctors and scientists heading towards an AIDS convention in Australia. Ffs.

Now here's my question, why the **** would you go on a plain that you know is crossing through Ukraine?

I can't say they deserved it but they really did have it coming...

Re: Pictures show pro-Russian seperatists moving missles away from MH 17 crash site.

Although there is no proverbial "smoking gun," odds favor the separatists' being responsible.

First, there was a purported social media post, but that post was deleted and its authenticity was not verified (at least not yet).

Second, Ukraine has been using air power, while the separatists lack air power. Therefore, the separatists would be more likely to be firing at planes than Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government has made claims about an intercepted conversation, but both Ukraine and the separatists have engaged in frequent disinformation, so that matter will need to be independently verified.

At the same time, it is possible and perhaps more likely than not that the BUK missile system had been seized at some point from Ukrainian forces. Reuters reported:

On June 29, Russian newswire ITAR-TASS quoted separatists in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, not far from where the plane went down, as saying they had seized control of a missile defense army unit equipped with the Buk system.

Malaysian airliner downing puts spotlight on Buk missile system | Reuters

Had a serious diplomatic effort been underway to resolve the internal conflict, perhaps the tragedy might not have occurred. Such an opportunity was missed when insufficient pressure was placed on the parties to enact a ceasefire. Russia bears a lot of responsibility, as it should have made efforts to seal its border with Ukraine and made clear to the rebels that it expected them to enact a ceasefire. The U.S. and EU should have urged Ukraine's government to be patient and try diplomacy before resorting to military operations. That didn't happen and the conflict intensified. Conflicts can and do often lead to unintended outcomes and other tragedies.

At the same time, international airlines should avoid conflict zones. Some had been avoiding eastern Ukraine, but others were not. The fact that a Ukrainian SU-27 fighter jet had been downed in recent days suggested that low-flying flights were not the only ones exposed to risk.

Hopefully, the party responsible (likely the rebels) will be held fully accountable for their actions.
