I see no problem in the Russians supplying the side that serves their interests in this, considering that's what the US does. If the Russian separatists, or the Russians themselves INTENTIONALLY shot down this plane, that would be hugely stupid, for it wouldn't advance there agenda at all. For me the logical explanation (other than mechanical failure) would be that Ukraine shot it down, wishing it to be blamed on the separatists, or the separatists shot it down, mistaking it for a military plane.

There's no sense in Ukraine's military purposefully shooting the plane down. Not even a question. Not with today's technological (i.e. video camera, satellite, cellphone, flight tracking) capabilities, and the tenderness of the situation in the region. Even if it were on accident, that just doesn't make sense. Ukraine doesn't have surface-to-air capabilities in the region ... the rebels have no airplanes, and the Ukrainian military is not attacking Russian planes.

What makes sense, and it the most obvious even without the evidence, is that it was a mistake made by the pro-Russian separatists. MH17 is the third plane shot down over Eastern Ukraine in the past week. The other two were a Ukrainian military transport and fighter jet. Duh. The separatists thought it was another Ukrainian military plane. Everything online backs it up. There's pictures and videos on Twitter/Youtube showing the BUK launcher being hauled into the region. There's the VK.com posts from Igor Girkin bragging about downing another plane. The Ukrainian defense department released the radio chatter of the separatists freaking out / discussing the crash. Now there's the video of the BUK launcher being hauled back out of the region.

We know who did it. Now it's just figuring out what the reaction and fall out will be ...

There are planes flying over Syria and they don't get shut down.

When the US accidentally shot down an Iranian airliner, there was little reaction or fallout, so IF the separatists shot this plane down, there should be the same response. I'm suggesting Ukraine has the motive and the means to have done this, that's all I'm saying, I'm not making the accusation.

And I sure as hell know I am never going on one of those flights, one would think this is common sense.

Many airlines, almost all Asian airlines, travel that route daily - or at least they did until now. It was not a restricted area, and the airspace was open and approved by the ICAO and other international aviation organizations.
"Open and approved by the ICAO and other International Aviation Organizations."

If I don't what the hell the ICAO is what makes you think these rebels will? Nor did any of that really matter because what happened?

A plane was shot down, no ifs, no buts, no safe airspace, it was shot down.

My logic of simply not flying over a warzone would have saved those lives.

    EDIT

But to be fair I am going about it to abrasively, my apologies.

There wasn't? ... I'm young. The Iranian 655 accident happened before I was. As far I know, that event and the US' refusal to apologize, or even acknowledge our wrongdoing colored Iranian-American relations for years.

There was a NOTAM in effect, stating planes should be above 32,000 feet, as this plane was. As well as dozens of other planes from many different airlines at the time. It is a standard air corridor that has been traveled by airliners for many years.
